As I was browsing through the hair care aisle at Wal-Mart a few weeks ago, I began looking over the Frizz-Ease collection. John Frieda Frizz-Ease Corrective Styling Gel caught my eye and after I read the description of what this styling gel claimed it could do, I decided to make the purchase. I have naturally curly hair and this seemed like a product that would work on my type of hair and for $4.99; I figured it was worth a try.
The Gel
Description
This corrective styling gel comes in a sleek 3.8 oz. clear cylinder plastic pump bottle. The gel itself is clear but due to the encapsulated silicone that this product has in it, little bubbles can be seen through the bottle. The gel is only slightly sticky to the touch and has a very light scent. So light that I can only describe it as a little bit fruity and a little bit flowery.
My Experience
After washing, conditioning, and towel drying my hair, I apply about a quarter sized amount of John Frieda Frizz-Ease Corrective Styling Gel and work it through my damp hair. I lightly comb through with a wide toothed comb and then let my hair dry naturally.
When dry, my hair doesn't look frizzy and has a nice shine to it. It doesn't look greasy or stiff and the gel does not flake or make my hair feel sticky. I have also noticed that when using this gel, my curly, frizzy hair puffs out a lot less than usual. On windy days, my hair stays in control and on rainy days, does not frizz out because of the humidity.
There are times when before the day is over, I do need to reapply the product to continue to have optimal results. Reapplication is mostly necessary on extra windy days or when I am outdoors for an extended period of time.
I like the fact that it's alcohol-free and non-drying since my curly hair is already on the dry side. Washing it out is never a problem. There is no residue left in my hair after I wash it and never any build up.
Another good quality about this product is that I can use it to achieve several different looks if I choose to. As of right now, I have only used it on my damp hair and let air dry but just knowing that I have options, is a benefit.
Final Thoughts
John Frieda Frizz-Ease Corrective Styling Gel is a quality product at an affordable price. I especially love that this gel doesn't make my hair look stiff or greasy. I am quite pleased with the results that I achieve when using this product and would recommend it to anyone who needs to control frizz and would like to add some shine, therefore I am giving this product a 5 star rating.
