New York's John F. Kennedy International Airport is a great airport to get to know if you're looking for bargain airfares to Europe, Africa, or Asia. It has a simply amazing number of international flights going in and out of it, and with so many foriegn flag carriers operating there, it's shockingly easy to find convenient, affordable flights to any signficant place on Earth. That's the good part of getting to know JFK.

The bad part is actually USING the airport: it's a horribly designed airport that's confusing, exceptionally difficult to get around in, extremely passenger hostile, and that offers...

JFK is one of the nation's oldest airport and its design shows.  There are eight terminls, arrnaged in a circle.  Except for Terminals 2 and 3 (both Delta), each terminal is a complete stand alone faciltiy...connected by either the airtrain or a shuttle bus.  All inter-terminal connections are outside security.  While this might sound like a pain, it only affects travelers who are changing airlines while connecting tbetween a domestic and an international flight on non-US airlines.  For those flying American and Delta, your connections will be in the same terminal, so its very easy.
