John Deere 960 Z-Trak Pro...

5

I bought this John Deere Z-Trak Pro 960 with 34hp Kawasaki, the end of last season with all the "bells and whistles", cushion ride seat attachment, hitch, lights, comfort and convenience package, i.e. all the buttons on the steering controls to raise the deck and turn off the blades...had no problems at all. I was concerned at first that the physical size of the machine would be a problem, I was augmenting my lineup of mowers and the last zero turn I used extensively was a Hustler Super Mini-Z which I still have. I will tell you that the 960 has been flawless, more maneuverable than the Hustler despite it's size, the steering is more precise and MUCH more control on grades than the Hustler, most likely because of the wider tires and more precise steering. Nothing stops this thing, tall grass, thick grass, everything is cut evenly and if you use care when making turns without even damaging the grass when it's wet...but this is true with any zero turn. If I had to complain about something...OK, the cup holder could be bigger to accomodate my Nalgene water bottle, but I adjusted by buying a JD water bottle. I paid a lot of money for this machine, but you get what you pay for, nimble, fast and perfect cuts. I will not use anything else now, the Hustler sits collecting dust, I'm thinking about selling it to my brother who is plagued by a problem prone cub cadet zero turn, in the shop most of its life. To anyone thinking about buying a new zero turn mower, don't be scared by the size of this machine, it's awesome and the best made mower I have ever owned.
