I was referred to this site via my yahoo email account and thought that maybe this could help me find a job, but to my dismay, this was not the case.  Unless you have a college degree or higher education, this site is not for you.  I would recommend the site, indeed.com in which you you type in a key word (for instance, clerical) and enter your zip code, city or state and you can find any and all jobs… read full review »

Are you tired of you current job?  Are you ''between careers'' and need to find employment quickly? CareerBuilder.com, which is a free internet-based tool, can help you find employment opportunities across the country. I used this site in 2006 to find a job and, after recently moving to a new city, am using it again to find a better employment opportunity. — CareerBuilder.com allows you to search for employment opportunities in specific areas (cities, zip codes), and offers several dozen different career categories from which to chose. Once you sign-up you can search through the… read full review »

Trainingjob is unique. It only offers listings of jobs from headhunters aka recruiters. These recruiters are paid by their client companies. At the present there are 1500 recruiters banded together in the Network that posts these jobs to Trainingjob. Jobs are of all types and locations from engineering to sales to accounting and manufacturing and IT. —   The main advantage to this site is that the postings are fresh, they are for real, and they are hot jobs. Any client company that asks a recruiter to work on a 30% contingency fee is serious about wanting that job… read full review »

shadowshopper.com — Okay so there are many many "mystery shopping" companies out there. I found one, after doing multiple research, that really works. Shadow Shoppers is a site that is used to "network" you with companies that are seeking mystery shoppers. — I joined about 4 years ago. I paid $100 for the membership. In one week I made my $$ back by doing things that I do everytime I shop. Evaluate customer service!!!!!! — Ask me more I will be more than glad to share and answer questions. — This is how it works: — 1) go to the site shadow shopper… read full review »

Women on Writing

Women on Writing

This site is for writing women even though I don't think men will get an electric shock if they visit. They have the most colorful newsletters with lots of pictures. The newsletters are full of encouragement and girl power as different female writers provide articles and interviews. Hope Clark from Fundsforwriters.com(I have reviewed that) has a column about her specialties. The newsletters include contests on the site, markets, and blogs. The site is fairly new, but they are proving to be a wonderful resource. New writing sites seem to pop up every day, but this one looks like it's in… read full review »

Writing-world.com is undergoing changes as Moira Allen gives up the website, and Dawn Copeman takes over. If you go to the writing books section in a bookstore, you are likely to see a book by Allen as she has written books about how to be a freelance writer. Newsletters arrive monthly with a message from the editor, writing news, and articles. An interesting section is by Copeman who asks a question about writing and prints reader responses in the next issue. I've had a response published, and I always like to see my name in print! A recent question was "How do you write if you have… read full review »

The image of the starving writer has always been prevalent, but Peter Bowerman shows on his site that copywriting can keep writers very full. He wrote a book about how to get started in copywriting called The Well-Fed Writer, and his site has the same name. He puts out a monthly newsletter with tips on marketing, success stories, and other things for writers to feast on. — Bowerman is a successful copywriter himself, and he shares how he became a success. Writers, especially fiction writers, have to struggle to be published, but writing marketing materials for companies can be faster… read full review »

Worldwidefreelance.com has an international feel as it represents writing markets in different countries. Markets are in Europe, Australia, Canada, and other places. The markets include magazines, newspapers, and publishers. There are free emailed newsletters once a week with a message from the site's owner, markets, and an article. People can pay to subscribe to a market database on the site. This site allows writers to publish in other countries. I've been published in other countries, and there has been a little payment confusion with currency conversion, but with Paypal, it all works out.… read full review »

When drilling down to a specific state level search, many of the sites this tool reaches are not compatable with browsers other than Internet Explorer. There is no message that the sites require Internet Explorer, the search the user is performing simply fails to execute.  While this is not a specific issue with America's Job Bank, it is a problem that should be… read full review »

I've been reviewing sites for writers, and this site has a more academic slant. For writers who are interested in academic jobs, residencies, and literary journals, this is the site for you. Erika Driefus runs the site, and her monthly newsletters always have interesting information. The newsletter has an article, contests, submission alerts, and conferences. She also has a blog(doesn't everyone?) where she posts academic writing and books news. Most writing sites tend to be the same with the topics, but featuring academic writing makes the practicing writing site unique. —… read full review »

Chacha.com is the online search engine I use most but the best part for me is that I am also a guide there and make awesome money every week! Most of the searches I get are from kids who need help with their homework and I find sites to send them that will help them with whatever subject they are working on at the time. The idea of the site is to help people who either are not computer/internet literate or just don't have the time to do searching on their own. Chacha recently started a sms search program for people who want to do their searches through texting and that seems to be going… read full review »
