Intro
We hold our martial arts classes in a Mexican restaurant, so when we get a chance to break the Mexican food rut, we're going to take it. The master of our school held a dinner meeting in appreciation of our work at the school instructing as well as helping out with other things. He took us to Jimmy's Charhouse, the same location he had taken us to a few years back. We laughed then at the 14 year old boy at our table who ordered the spaghetti. When it was brought out to the table in the enormous bowl, there was no way he was going to be able to eat it all. This year we had a 12 year old vying for the title, trying to eat that whole bowl.

The Food
A few of us were a little late getting to the meeting, and appetizers had already been ordered, combination platters with calamari, potato skins, and chicken fingers. Like Kelly Pickler of American Idol fame, I also "ain't eatin' no calamari." I'm not a seafood eater, because it looks like its animal form too much, and with tentacles still on it, I just can't do it. But I did enjoy the potato skins, and the others assured me the calamari was terrific. Jimmy's Charhouse is mostly a steak joint, but they have seafood and pasta as well. I thought about the prime rib which was close to a full pound, but I knew I'd never finish that and would barely make a dent in it. I chose the single filet mignon without the hollandaise sauce. The 12 year old vying for the title ordered plain spaghetti with just butter, and was told it was a full pound of pasta. He vowed to finish it, and did pretty well, probably eating half of it. The bowl was probably as big as his head and stomach put together.

The only complaint at the table was with the lobster. My friend didn't think it tasted right. My steak was absolutely perfect, great flavor, and very juicy. The majority of the people at the table had dessert, many of them getting the tiramisu, and the 12 year old, what else, but the double double chocolate cake. The portions were so huge, the only thing I could think of was PeeWee Herman, "Is that a big enough piece of cake or what?"

Service
The service was quick and correct. We never wanted for anything. Take home trays were brought out before we even asked for something to wrap our leftovers in, including one for the appetizers, as she told us exactly how we should reheat them to keep them at their best. Our waitress also played along with us and our joke on if the 12 year old was going to finish all that pasta or take most of it home.

Price

The price was a little more than what you would normally find in a suburban steakhouse, with pastas between $10 and $15, and steaks between $16 and $30. Luckily, I wasn't paying the bill that night. Yet, even if it was, I think the price was justifiable considering the service, quality of food, and mostly the enormous proportions.
