The Jilbere de Paris flat iron is perfect and works better than a Chi (for my hairtype anyway).  It is wonderfully priced, at around $80, and can be found at any beauty supply store. A friend of mine bought hers at her local salon.  It heats up to 450 degrees and heats quickly in a very timely manner.  It straightens thick and thin hair quickly without leaving line marks on your hair.  It's small enough to be held nicely in your hands and is easy to pack and travel with.  The flat iron is light in weight, easy to hold and doesnt weigh down your arms or hands while straightening your hair.  Be careful thought - it does get super hot and may leave a faint heat mark on the bathroom counter.  I place mine on a bathroom hand towel and it doesnt heat the towel really, only keeps the flat iron from burning my counter tops.  (This would be true for any flat iron heating up to that high of degrees.)  I absolutely love this flat iron and completely recommend it.
