Jessica Seinfeld scored with her cookbook,  Deceptively Delicious: Simple Secrets to Get Your Kids Eating Good Food. Great idea. You blend up various veggie based concoctions and mix them in with favorite kid dishes. Your kids eat better. Hard to argue with that.

The problem here is that Missy Chase...

Deceptively Delicious: Simple Secrets to Get Your Kids Eating Good Food by Jessica Seinfeld

I am a mom to one of those toddlers who will not touch vegetables unless completely famished. I was really stressing about this because I didn't want my kid to have to get to the point of starving for every single meal in order to get his veges.

I had watched an interview with Jessica Seinfeld on this cookbook and thought it looked cool, but I didn't buy it because I thought it may be just another celebrity getting an easy book deal. Boy, was I wrong. Seinfeld really took the time and energy to put a creative...

This book is wonderful.  It incorporates so many healthy foods into foods my 18 month old daughter will eat.  I still offer vegetables on the side so that she is exposed to "green" on her plate, but it isn't as disappointing or stressful if she doesn't eat them all, because I know she's getting some in the other food.  This book is cute, clever and full of fun.  And even if you don't use all the recipes, it's a great launching pad for your own ideas.  It gave me the inspiration to put vegetable purees into other foods, like brocoli into a can of beans for burritos or sweet potato puree into... read full review »

I received the Deceptively Delicious cookbook for my birthday last year and have used it consistently ever since.  Jessica Seinfeld's "simple secrets to get your kids eating good food" work exceptionally well on my husband.  The recipes are easy to make and leave me feeling like I am doing something good for my family.

The whole premise of the Deceptively Delicious cookbook is to "hide" pureed fruits and veggies in everyday foods without your kids (or spouse) having any clue.  This is a great way to get in your daily allotment of fruits and veggies while eating foods you actually like. ...

I bought this book after seeing Jessica on the Oprah show. The recipies looked so easy and delicious that I couldn't wait to see the book for myself. Within 24 hrs of seeing the show, I was on the Internet purchasing the book. The day I got the book in the mail I was off to the grocery store to stock up on a few things like wheat germ, flax seed meal, and lots of fresh veggies (new for us!) I spent an entire Sunday afternoon pureeing the veggies after I cooked them. This was the hardest part, but I now have a freezer full of different pureed veggies to use at a moments notice.

The first meal I...

This is a must have cookbook for any kitchen. My daughter is a nutrition major and heard about Deceptively Delicious from one of her roommates. While out shopping I bought the book for her and gave it to her over the weekend. I was skeptical, but was willing to give it a shot. I have a 17 year old who doesn't like most vegetables. My daughter decided to start with something he likes, Macaroni and Cheese. This recipe uses califlower puree. The recipe was easy to follow and easy to make. We dished it up and my son didn't even notice. We weren't going to tell him that it had califlower in it until...

This cookbook is well organized and teaches fundamentals for adding more vegetables to your diet, especially for those who won't usually eat many vegetables.  I'm happy to find no artificial sweeteners in these recipes, but disappointed to find most of the main dish recipes are chicken...no fish!  Also hoped for some recipes including whole grains.  Overall a good cookbook for adding vegetables to your diet, especially if you don't usually enjoy them.

I enjoyed reading through this book. Unfortuantely, my picky eater doesn't even eat some of the food she suggests "hiding" the veggies into so they don't work for me but a few of the recipes (such as the yellow cake with pumpkin) were delicious and it got me thinking of my own ways to hide veggies into the foods my daughter does eat.

I have three daughters.  My middle and youngest daughters like only certain veggies, but my oldest daughter hates almost all types of veggies with the exception of green beans and corn.  It was getting really old trying to fight her to get even a small amount of veggies into her.  Finally, I saw Jessica on the Oprah show and my eyes were opened quite a bit!

The favorite dish in our home is the macs and cheese so naturally we tried it with the pureed butternut squash.  We have a Magic Bullet that we bought after reading this book, so we added the cheese powder to the pureed squash in our Bullet...

I have to admit that I was a bit skeptical about buying this cookbook (Deceptively Delicious by Jessica Seinfeld).  The retro cover and cute illustrations kept me admiring it, but I could never commit to the cost of it for what I perceived the value to be.  I am converted, however, after trying several of the recipes and finding them to be truly delicious.  I was also surprised to read about this being Jerry Seinfeld's physician wife.  Equally surprising was the fact that Jerry is now a Dad, but that is beside the point.

Obviously, the most difficult concept of cooking with fruit and vegetable...

I took both this book and The Sneaky Chef from the library, with an attempt to get my toddler to eat more veggies. I ended up buying this book to keep, because there are more recipes than TSC. I will say that a lot of them are the same.... this just has a few more. The recipes are easy, some require a bit of tweaking however, some dishes are a bit runny, some use regular white flour which I always replace with whole wheat. The breakfast dishes are the better dishes in the book, adding sweet potato puree to the french toast batter is an excellent addition, in fact my husband and I make our with... read full review »

Since the beginning I have introduced my daughter to a a variety of foods - she loves avocado, brown rice, tofu etc. but I bought this book anyway and have tried out a couple of the recipes - particularly the chicken nuggets and italian meatloaf. I think the prep time is a bit tedious, but if you keep all your ingredients handy, it goes pretty quick. All in all its a good book!

I love this book!  The recipes are fantastic.  I do not have children, but my husband and I despise vegetables, so I thought I would try some of these recipes to encourage healthier eating for ourselves!  You can barely taste the vegetables in the recipes, and when you can, it always adds to the flavor of the dish.  My husband doesn't even make a face!

I picked this book up at the library to try out on my kids.  I liked it so much that I bought it.  The purees take some prep, but results are worth it.  It is surprising the many different everyday foods that are made healthy using her recipes.  Who knew you could feed your kids veggies in their cookies and brownies?
