I have three daughters. My middle and youngest daughters like only certain veggies, but my oldest daughter hates almost all types of veggies with the exception of green beans and corn. It was getting really old trying to fight her to get even a small amount of veggies into her. Finally, I saw Jessica on the Oprah show and my eyes were opened quite a bit!
The favorite dish in our home is the macs and cheese so naturally we tried it with the pureed butternut squash. We have a Magic Bullet that we bought after reading this book, so we added the cheese powder to the pureed squash in our Bullet and we made sure everything was mixed thoroughly (which it was with the Magic Bullet). The girls all ate it and they never knew it was hidden in there! They ate the green beans that we had in a dish (Jessica recommends that you always keep a vegetable visible so that your kids don't think you stopped "serving" them) and then had seconds of the macs and cheese!!
We had one of the chicken dishes with broccoli served as a side dish another night and my husband mixed pureed cauliflower in the corn casserole (from the Jiffy corn muffin box), and they ate that up, also! They are really getting great amounts of veggies eaten with this method of cooking. I don't know why I never thought of it before. It sure beats fighting with my 8 year old to get her to eat her veggies!
I do not have a freezer full of veggies already pureed, however I do keep them on hand for use whenever I can. We have had the turkey burgers and all the girls ate them with lots of ketchup! I really recommend this book to anyone that wants to start adding more veggies to meals for their families, without fighting about it all the time.
The kids won't know what's inside and neighter will the spouses!
