Simple Secrets to Get Your Kids Eating Good Food

What is it?
Deceptively Delicious
is a cookbook by Jessica Seinfeld (Comedian Jerry Seinfeld's better half).  After having numerous challenges in trying to get her kids (and Hubby) to eat healthier, she decided to come up with some recipes that could hide the "good stuff" and still taste great.
This cookbook is quite instructional and has taught me quite a bit about cooking and preparing food.  I'm not the worlds greatest cook, in fact, I despise cooking but I have to do it, regardless, so I might as well learn how to do it right.  Right?
Deceptively Delicious walks you through everything you will need to stock your pantry to make these recipes to learning about nutrition and finally, the recipes.

Some sample recipe ideas in the cookbook are:
1.  Green Eggs - Every kid should have them at least once!
2.  Peanut Butter & Jelly Muffins
3. Chicken Nuggets (made with broccoli - no way!)
4. Mozzarella Sticks (made with cauliflower - ingenious!)

My Viewpoint!
My kids eat veggies, they aren't the problem. I am.  I don't like a single vegetable except Romaine Lettuce and an Onion.  Do they count?  So after hearing from a friend who bought the cook book and said that the recipes were easy and you couldn't taste the "healthy stuff", I couldn't wait to get my hot little hands on this cookbook.

First off, I had to buy quite a few ingredients that I don't normally buy.  Like Flaxseed.  What the heck is a flaxseed?

Then I had to learn what a puree was and how to do it (thanks CyndiA)!

I've only made a couple of the recipes (French Toast & Pancakes) but I couldn't taste the hidden veggies at all and they were good!

So I am going to invest in this cookbook and try out some more recipes to get myself (and my family) eating a little healthier....even if it's hidden in a brownie!!

I can't wait to try out the rest of the recipes and figure out what the heck a Flaxseed is and where I can find it at Krogers?

Hehehe. I didn't know what flaxseed was either until I started eating Uncle Sam cereal (a great breakfast for anybody who wants to lose weight, look better, and live healthier, without paying high "natural foods" prices).

I despise most veggies myself. I read somewhere that it takes 18 tries of a food before your taste buds develop a liking for it. I can't imagine attempting to eat asparagus even once, so I haven't yet tested this theory. Good review. :-)
