On March 08, my Doctor told me that I was almost a diabetic with a high blod surgar A1c level. He basically threatend me to get my blood surgars down or he would put me on meds and or shots. I asked him what was the best way to lower blood surgar? He said to lose 20 pounds! was the easiest way. Easier said than done I thought. So after that visit, I called Jenny Craig diet center to ask for info, and the director impressed me enough to go into the center for a consultation. Well, they weighed me, and introduced me to the program and their different membershio levels. After hearing all that, I was guaranteed I would lose 20 or more pounds if I followed their program. And since I didn't really want to be diabetic, I joined their rewards program in 3/08.
At first, they were ridgid on not letting me pick my own foods and since I am a picky eater, I wasn't doing too well. But after I told them that I'd follow the program better or more if they give me foods to my liking. And so they did and the pounds started to drop.
Jenny Craig works if you get foods that you like which makes a person inclined to follow the program better. Also, all those negative comments about the diet by other doesn't really jive with me because I suspect that they are cheating on the diet. One of J.C. secret to sucess is that they tell a dieter to drink 8 or more glasses of water a day because water helps the body purify itself which makes a person loose the fat. Also eating small amounts of foods but in 3 hour intervals as I did help the hunger satisfaction. Exercise 2-3 times a week( going to a health club) is a must too.
As for my weight loss, I went from 175 down to 152-153 which is under my goal of 155, plus my blood surgar is back to normal levels. All done in 5 months. And as of today, 1/10/09, I still am under my goal weight at 153.My Physician was impressed and told me to continue the good work.
:Lastly, J.C, taught me not only portion control: a portion is about the size of a person's palm (men or Women) but more important, about how to enjoy all foods in the right portions and that all dieters need to drink plenty of water and moderate exercise to make the program a sucess.
Jenny Craig is about lifestyle change more than just selling diet entrees. It's not cheap, but if a person follows the program-with the occasional spurges, you will loise weight. I did. So in this contect, it's worth the costs especially if it prevented type 2 diabetes.
I went with Jenny Craig after reading web md's reviews and reccomendation of J.C. Also, I talked to many people who were on other programs and they all told me that the foods were awful. and it was difficult to stay on that program.
