Ok, so maybe I don't get the convection oven thing

Jenn Air - Electric Double Oven (JMW9527DA)  — 

Ok, so I bought this double oven, convection thinking it was going to be the greatest thing since sliced bread.  Perhaps I just do not get the concept - it seems to cook my food much slower than any receipe calls for.  Most of the time my food is not fully cooked and it takes longer than a regular over.
