I bake amazing cakes, breads, and cookies. Or at least I USED to. Before I moved to a new home with a brand new Jenn Air professional-style convection double oven two years ago. I haven't made a decent cake since.
The repair man has been here three times. He insists it is normal for an oven to fluctuate in temperature by 50 degrees. That is not the only problem my oven has. When using the convection setting, I plan on anything close to the fan in the back burning. I don't ever open the door unless I'm cooking something that takes more than an hour to cook becuse the temp will drop at least 25 degrees and it will take 10-15 minutes for it to regain that temp. I NEVER put anything in the oven without preheating first, it will burn on top and in back. I plan on at least 30 minutes to preheat to 350. I bought a very good oven thermometer because the display doesn't tell the truth.
Though I have tried everything to compensate for the faulty temperature gauge and inability to hold a steady temperature, I am giving up. It is now too late for any warranty coverage so the Jenn Air double oven and I have a date next month at the recyling plant.
I won't buy another Jenn Air.
