As Hannibal Lector would have said, "I had an old friend for dinner last night." In my case, this was Lean Cuisine Santa Fe Style Rice and Beans which is one of my personal favorites. The Southwestern ambience of this dish was perfectly complemented by Jello Sugar Free Dulce De Leche Pudding Cups. The package consisted of six plastic cups each containing approximately four ounces of a delightful sugar-free dessert consisting of a light caramel pudding topped with a dollop of caramel sauce.
Like the Lean Cuisine entree, Jello Sugar Free Dulce De Leche Pudding Cups probably are not the genuine Southwestern article but in my opinion are mildly flavored but delicious. For two reasons, I removed one star ... the cups are made of a type of plastic which is not recyclable and I detected a slight aftertaste. This aftertaste lasted only a few minutes and was not noticeably unpleasant. Certainly, it won't deter me from scarfing up the remaining five cups (eventually and not all at once!) but in the interest of conscientious reporting, I felt I should mention it.
STATS:
The contents of each cup is a single serving which contains 60 calories with ten calories from fat. There are one gram each total and saturated fat, zero trans fat and cholesterol, 170 mg. sodium, 12 grams total carbs, zero each dietary fiber and sugars, six grams sugar alcohol, one gram protein and 10% (.V.) Calcium.
TASTE TIP:
Very carefully, I applied a dollop of light whipped cream to the caramel sauce topping on my Jello Sugar Free Dulce De Leche Pudding Cup. It was the perfect touch.
