Lemon flavored pudding with a vanilla layer on top.

Jell-O Temptations Lemon Meringue Pie flavor is pretty gross. I love Jell-O for a low calorie treat every now and again. However the lemon meringue pie flavor isn't very good. It has a very fake lemon taste that lingers for a long time. It's almost bitter. On the plus side, they are very low in calories.

Jell-O Temptations A bright fresh taste that restored my sanity!

Today was a day where I should have never gotten out of bed. Nothing went right. I came close to a complete melt down at the grocery store when the straw just before the one that breaks the camel's back was dropped on me. Fed up, I went looking for a cheap treat for myself that wouldn't do too much damage to the diet. The Jell-O Temptations were on sale, and I had a good coupon (1 package free), and at 100 calories per serving I told myself that could fit the bill. I **LOVE** lemon meringue pie. Unfortunately, not only is it a calorie-fest because of the pie crust & lemon custard, but I live alone and couldn't - and shouldn't - eat a whole pie before it is no good. So, I chose the Lemon Meringue Pie flavor to Jell-O Temptations. Oh, my; oh, my; oh, my. If you like lemon and enjoy pudding, you **must** buy this for yourself. The topping at the top of the cup has the texture of a light and fluffy meringue. First good taste sensation. Then, the lemon. Then flavor is bright and fresh. It tastes like you just juiced and zested the lemons to make lemon pie filling. It is tart not cloyingly sweet. It really is the next best thing to a scratch lemon meringue pie I have ever tasted. It certainly beats anything else at the grocery store that tries to pass itself off as a lemon meringue pie, it also beats several sorry bakery pies I have had. Yes, I miss the pastry crust, but my hips don't. On the other hand, I don't miss the heaviness of the lemon custard pie filling. This lighter pudding satisfies completely! The folks at Jell-O really got this one right. They come in six flavors, Lemon Meringue Pie, French Silk Pie, Double Chocolate Pie, Apple Custard Pie, Raspberry Cheesecake, and Strawberry Cheesecake. I expect I will be trying at least one more flavor - the Double Chocolate Pie looked awfully tempting. Even if I have to pay full price for all the future packages of Lemon Meringue Pie Temptations, I'll be buying it again and again. UPDATE: I tried the Double Chocolate Pie this weekend with my nieces. One of the girls LOVED it, in fact she finished mine for me. My other niece thought it was okay, but nothing special. I thought it was awful - if you have ever made a cooked pudding from scratch and not fully cooked the starch, the you will understand what I would call the pudding's gloppy texture. I also was expecting a richer chocolate flavor. This one obviously is contentious. For comparison, the girls also loved the Lemon Merigue Pie - not as much as me, but enough to make note of what the product name was so they could have more at home. So, we have a real winner, and definite middle of the pack placer. Has anyone else tasted other flavors in this new product line? Can you recommend other flavors to seek out or avoid?
