We own an older home (90+ years) and it was time to replace our much outdated windows.  Some had been done before with vinyl (YUCK)..those were outdated too.  We should have just gotten the inserts but up opted for the entire replacement window and went with standard size.  Ordering exact size would have cost too much so we adjusted the opening to fit the standard size window.  My husband installed all 12 of them by himself.  I was quite impressed to say the least.  They are great windows..wood on the insdie and vinyl clad on the outside.  The window panes are seperated to make them look like the older windows which is nice for character.  The only thing I don't like about them is that the lock latch is a single latch in the center of the window and I think if it were a double latch it would seal better.  During the winter we need to go around and put a piece of insulation on the bottom and the latch the window.  That works great but kinda defeats the purpose.  I'd buy them again though. :-)
