Jeep Grand Cherokee - 2007 Review

My husband is a devious man and waited until I was 2 states away for the weekend to visit the Chevrolet-Jeep dealer to turn in our beloved leased 2004 Grand Cherokee and get a new one.  If I had been there, I not only would have vetoed the ugly color that he chose, but I probably would have refused to let him lease the 2007 Jeep Grand Cherokee.

This SUV seats 5 people and has plenty of cargo space in the back to fit big grocery trips, visits to BJ's or Costco, and even to fit multiple puppy/dog crates when I had to pick up our newest batches of rescue fosters.  It was very reliable and we drove it around town and on long trips with confidence.  I loved the 2007 Jeep Grand Cherokee when I was driving it...

...it was when I was a passenger that I was miserable.  According to my husband who knows about these things, this Jeep Grand Cherokee has a stiff suspension.  I don't know what the purpose of such a thing is, but I'll tell you that it made for many uncomfortable rides in the front passenger seat.  I wear my seat belt religiously, but I was still tossed around like some kind of Weeble Wobble whenever we hit a pot hole, driveway entrance, etc.  I quickly grew to hate this truck.  It was fine when I was driving, but 95% of the time I was the passenger and I couldn't stand the ride.

Two months ago, we had our 2007 Jeep Grand Cherokee parked on the street in front of our house overnight.  When my husband went out to it in the morning, he discovered that it had been hit... and pushed back 5 feet by the mystery criminal.  One week later the body shop cried "uncle" when they hit $15,000 in damages and the insurance company totalled it.  Despite the fact that we had to shell out $3,000 to buy a new truck (2009 Toyota 4Runner), I was still happy to say goodbye to our Grand Cherokee.  Whatever happened between 2004 and 2007 wasn't an improvement!
