You need more absorbable calcium!

I like the Jarrow Formulas Bone-Up calcium supplement. I think that Jarrow Formulas does a lot of really good research into how vitamins and supplements are best created so that they absorb into our bodies. Since so many vitamins don't easily absorb and just go right through it is nice to think that I might be getting more calcium in my body by taking the Jarrow Formulas Bone-Up. It includes all sorts of different ingredients that the big box store companies haven't thought to add. (Or wanted to pay for it). I have read that etween 2%-4%of a person's skeleton is remodeled every year! Meaning that calcium and other minerals leave the bone in a process called resorption and then must be "remodeled" or replaced. Due to poor nutrition or reduced hormone levels with the onset of aging, the loss of calcium and other minerals from the bones creates tiny holes that make bones weak and brittle. So it seems that keeping that healthy with the Jarrow Bone-Up Formula might a good idea. Exercise helps a lot too! There was a study done in England that concluded this: In 1982, an important calcium supplementation study was concluded and reported by the Dept. of Medicine and Radiology, Royal Free Hospital in London, England. Fifty-three women with reduced calcium absorption and accelerated bone loss were separated into three groups and studied for over 14 months. At the conclusion of the study, only the women that received 1,000 mg of calcium from ossein hydroxyapatite (OHC) along with vitamin D showed significant support for bone-health The Jarrow Formulas Bone-Up calcium supplement does contain the ossein hydroxyapatite (OHC) as well as Vitamin D3, zinc, copper, Vitamin K, Boron, manganese and Magnesium. All of which seem like they may be an important part of absorbing the calcium which I take. I like and trust the Jarrow Formulas and I use their Bone-Up calcium supplement as one of the choices I use when I take calcium for my aging middle aged bones.

Jarrow Formulas Bone-Up for Healthy Bones

A year ago in November I was diagnoses with osteopenia, which is bone loss. I am only 55 but went into menopause at 45, which is a leading contributor to bone loss in women. We only build bone until the ages of 30-35, then we lose more than we gain. After menopause the condition is escalated. What to do? Diet, exercise and supplements were the answer for me. I had been buying Grow Bone by Garden of Life, but it is so expensive. A friend gave me a full bottle of Bone-Up, made by Jarrow Formulas. Her father purchased it and never took it, so I was the lucky recipient. This bottle contains 240 average sized capsules. It claims to be a "Superior Calcium Formula" that promotes bone density. The serving size is 6 capsules a day, and this amount gives the body: 200 mg vitamin C, 1000 mg vitamin D3, 100 mcg vitamin K1, 10 mcg MK-7, 100 mcg B12, calcium formula MCHA 4762 mg (1000 mg elemental calcium, 510 mg phosphorus, and 1514 mg protein), 500 mg magnesium, 10 mg zinc, 1 mg copper, 1 mg manganese, 99 mg potassium, and 3 mg boron. The supplements that my physician specifically recommended for my bone health were calcium, D3, magnesium, K2 and boron. All of those elements are in the Bone-Up. The MCHA in this formula comes from free range Australian calves. I am not sure what that means! After one year on Grow Bone and Bone-Up, the DEXA scan showed an improvement of 15% bone growth in my spine, and my doctor was floored by this news. She told me to keep taking what I was taking, and continue to get weight bearing exercise. Osteoporosis or osteopenia are not a death sentence. There are things we can do to rebuild our bones, and Bone-Up seems to be one of them. It worked for me.
