This place was a TREMENDOUS disappointment. The food was the equivalent of my local lunch bento box, but because of the prices, we will not be eating out for quite a while now. The food was simply OK, and so was the decor. Our biggest problem was the mesquitos. Yes, we were eating INDOORS and after we were RUDELY disregarded by some snooty wannabe sommelier so we were forced to complain to the manager. His response was that we should have thought about using some bug spray and not eat out this time of year (even though we were INDOORS!!!!!!!!!!!!). I first visited Japonais in June 2007 for my best friend's 21st birthday. This place is perfect for a celebratory occasion, particularly the open air patio located on the lower level of the restaurant. It faces the river and really sets the tone for a special evening. The food is delicious, although if you're on a tight budget you'll want to steer clear. (Keep in mind I'm young and don't have a large disposable income!) The seafood is all really fresh.
