I use this machine for small sewing projects along with repairs. I recently made a baby bubble romper that turned out so well. This machine comes with a great instructional booklet that has helped me learn to do button holes and zippers easily. There are multiple settings for different types of stitches that are very handy.

This machine is wonderful for peicing only and for toting around (very lightweight).  It has a buttonhole attatchment, 1/4 inch foot, and 10 basic stitches.  Good Janome quality, however there are a few very basic options that don't exist in the machine, and if you want to do any variety of sewing, you will need something more.  Options not included are 1) Lowering of feed dogs 2) stitch length control 3) thread cutter 4) light does not have full - coverage.  This machine is excellent as a second machine to carry around with you in your car for classes or extra peicing away from home for example.  Do not rely on this to cover all your sewing needs however.
