Janome Sewing Machine - Janome Serger - Juno 3434D —

This has got to be the worst sewing machine(serger) ever made. I have been sewing with an overlock on a Pfaff for 12+ years and was dying to get a serger after hearing how wonderful they are. Saved the money to buy it when it was on sale and have NEVER been so disappointed with a piece of equipment in my life! It was a joke. Had to use a flashlight and tweezers to thread the darn thing. It did not save me time like I had heard a serger would do. It wasted much of my time and I finally walked out to my dumpster and dropped it in because it was the biggest piece of junk I have ever bought. I will be very wary of considering another serger after this experience. They are not all everyone cracks them up to be or I have been sewing with an overlock stitch and trimming my own seams for too long!

Don't get discouraged about sergers. There are others that are MUCH easier to thread. This model just happens to be at the low end of Janome's sergers. The 1100dx is awesome as well as the 1200 versions. The plastic casing pulls away and you don't have to use a flashlight to see what you're trying to thread. Bernina also makes an AWESOME serger! You're going to pay though...these other models start at $279 and quickly go up. Don't give up on them just yet.

I saw it at Hancock's yesterday and did not see anything on the box about manufacturer warranty.
A clerk opened 2 boxes and there was no warranty card (to be sent in) in either box, nor was there ANY mention of warranty in the instruction booklet.

NO WAY would I purchase something like that!!!

How sad you got that frustrated, but I doubt it was the machine's fault.
Janome's are usually fine machines. Threading a serger is always a bit tricky the few times, it is easier. Normally, once threaded, you never thread again, simply cut the thread up high on the machine and tie on the new color or changed thread. also, on a new machine, trial runs with different tensions are necessary to avoid strange stitch patterns. Some stores will give lessons to help you avoid tension clashes, which can be a bother with a serger 'til you get to know them. every change of fabric may need a slight change. Sorry you threw it away, because any sewing machine store will show you how to fix what's wrong if it is a tension, needle, or simply not knowing what to do next.
But sergers need more precise tension settings. there's a 4 dollar threader (loop on a long flexible wire) that once you do that a couple of times, makes threading a snap.
