I may not have ever won the big Lottery jackpot but I'm a lucky person just the same because my doctor is Janet Y. Forbes, M.D., a wonderful doctor who combines professionalism with compassion, firmness with kindness, and a patient attitude with patients like me.
I'll be the first to admit that I am the kind of patient whom every doctor probably wishes would go to some other doctor -- not as careful or conscientious as I should be about my diet, exercise regimen or health in general. For instance, I didn't have a mammogram for 25 years and only caved in and finally did so because of Dr. Forbes' urging. During that mammogram, everything looked okay but when I got another done a year later, they were able to compare it to the one from the year before and saw a change which turned out to be Stage II cancer. This was taken care of in time but the point is that things might have turned out differently if I hadn't had those mammograms -- and the main reason I had them was because Dr. Forbes wanted me to.
MY VIEWPOINT:
As a difficult patient, I don't really deserve such a wonderful doctor. It is hard for me to convey what a wonderful person she is -- suffice to say that, if God was a woman, She probably would have a personality very much like Dr. Janet Forbes. More to the point, if it wasn't for Doctor Forbes, I would probably be dead by now.
