Quick View: Jane cosmetics, to me, used to be dollar store type stuff. I rarely used it or even looked at it when I shopped. However, Jane has come out with a mineral makeup line and I just HAD  to try it. Guess what? It's GOOD!

About Jane Be Pure Mineral Skin Perfecting Sheer Foundation

I was at Rite Aid picking up a prescription which is my code for "checking out the new makeup" when I saw a line of Jane Be Pure cosmetics. This line is pure mineral makeup with no talc (Even BE has talc!) and nothing artificial. I am not a big fan of powder foundations so my eye went right to the liquid mineral foundation. Jane has two liquid mineral foundations, I have since found out. One is a bit heaver and Jane Be Pure Mineral Skin Perfecting Sheer Foundation is a sheer, almost tinted moisturizing type of foundation. I chose the darkest of the four shades, Dark Natural. I am tan now from my daily Vitamin D gathering in the sun and don't need anything heavy or too concealing.

This foundation comes in a generous 1.7 ounce plastic rectangular bottle and cost me $5.99. I figured if I hated it, it wouldn't be a disaster like when I pay $40.00 for foundation. When I got home, I tried Jane Be Pure Mineral Skin Perfecting Sheer Foundation and it was perfect. The shade is a tad lighter than my skin now but won't be in a few weeks since the sun is going bye bye quickly. It blends fine though and doesn't wash me out at all. This has sheer coverage and is dewy. It has SPF 30 in it which is a great addition to any foundation.

This liquid is really sheer and is better off being called a tinted moisturizer. It's fine for summer for me and, in the cooler months when I'm once again a pale zombie, it will make a great base for powder mineral foundations (IF I can find one I don't feel makes me look like a fell face first in a vat of flour) or even alone with concealer under it to even out my skin a little more. It also makes a great makeup primer under heavier liquids, creams, or powders.

I like this stuff! I wonder why they only made it in four shades though and why the shade I bought is the darkest. There ARE people on this planet darker than a pale medium skinned person with a little tan. Nonetheless, this sheer foundaton works for me at the moment. When I feel I need heavier coverage, I can always switch the slightly heavier but still 100% natural Be Pure Mineral Liquid Foundation in the pump bottle for the same price or use this as a base for heavier foundations. For the price, it can't be beat though.

My Viewpoint

If you like mineral makeup and don't like to look like you're wearing makeup, Jane Be Pure Mineral Skin Perfecting Sheer Foundation may be for you. It is sheer, all natural, inexpensive, and contains a high level of sunscreen for protection. It won't cover anything but slight flaws but, even if you use it as a tinted moisturizer, it's better than chemical laden stuff on your skin and the price? Ridiculously low. Jane be Pure is a whole line of mineral powder foundations, liquids, eye shadows, blushes, bronzers, and more. I just ordered everything from Walgreens. That's how impressed I was. Plus, at the prices Jane is charging, I can afford to play a little without feeling guilty. 4 stars. Just know this is SHEER and won't give you a ton of coverage but it does make skin look better, brighter, and dewy.

It's really sheer. The other foundation in the pump bottle has more coverage if you want it. I ordered two shades (and other Jane stuff) from Walgreens last night because my Rite Aid didn't carry the other foundation of many of the other mineral stuff Jane makes.

Only a few companies make liquid mineral makeup (REAL mineral makeup as opposed to "mineral infused".) Sine I really don't like powder foundations, this was a great option for me. I am buying the heavier mineral foundation from Jane to try. It's only about $6.00 and 100% natural. Of course, if it's not my shade or I don't like it, it will go to you. lol.

Luckily, the sunscreen is all natural. I usually don't like to wear sunscreen in makeup because it isn't needed most of the time. This doesn't irritate my skin at all like regular sunscreen does. I think the heavier Jane mineral foundation has less sunscreen. SPF 15 I think from the natural minerals.

Jane Cosmetics have been around for a long time in drugstores and mass market stores. They just started with the mineral makeup and that's when I really took notice.

It's kind of like sunscreen but with a tint. I do like that sunscreen is natural so it is less irritating to the skin.

I didn't even know that there WAS liquid mineral makeup! I don't like the powder either. I have to try this.

Awesome. If only they were SPF free...I'm still tempted to try these out, though, even with the threat of potential skin-attack (re: break out). Thanks for the review!

Sounds interesting! I don't think I've heard of this brand.

This is good because it's a sunscreen with a tint and moisturizers all in one. AND all natural. I will wear it on my at home, running to the store types of days.

Meri wrote on Sep 5, 2008 at 11:56PM

Sometimes less is good! I like sheer tints for everyday wear. I will have to remember this one.
