Granted, we know how the story ends, but we are introduced to well-fleshed characters whose lives were forever altered by the first political assassination of the new republic. We are privy to the final pages of John Wilkes Booth's diary. And we are left to ponder the effect of one rash, irretrievable moment on the progress of American history.
