This heavily advertised Girl Gourmet Cupcake Maker was on a lot of Christmas lists, I am sure. I am also pretty sure that many moms are now wondering what all the hype was for. This piece of pink plastic utilizes your microwave to make a cupcake that you then decorate with a frosting gadget.
I will keep this review short and sweet, like a cupcake. The mix made a crumbly mess of a cupcake and the frosting chamber sent frosting flying around my kitchen. Now I am sure my seven year old was a little heavy handed on the handle that depresses the frosting, but she can't be the only kid to get a little...
read full review »I bought the cupcake maker for my 9 year old. She loves to help mommy bake so thought this would be easy for her to use. The first setback was the mixes have to be "baked" in the microwave one at a time (not something a child can do on their own) The frosting was a chore to put in the frosting tube without making a mess. The holder for the cupcake is loose. When the handle is depressed with any pressure cupcake, frosting and anything else in its path is thrown over counter-tops, walls and floor.. makes quite a big mess to clean up!! After the first two cupcakes were made my daughter was disappointed and...
read full review »I bought this, "gourmet cupcake maker" toy for my daughter and my niece. It wasn't what I expected. The cake mix tasted terrible as did the icing. I found that I had to do most of the work as the measuring was very precise and the material was hard to stir and to pour.
In the commercials the icing came out so slow and beautifully decorating the cake. In reality when you press down on the handle the cupcake spins rapidly, we even had one fly off. But there was no point in pressing the handle to squeeze out the icing because it just runs out by itself anyway.
This toy was a crock. ...
read full review »Wow, what a disappointment for both my daughter and me! She begged for this for Christmas so we finally broke down and purchased it. First of all, it is not a cupcake MAKER it is a cupcake DECORATOR. You still have to bake the cupcake in your own microwave first. It's not like the Easy Bake Oven where that's actually a part of what you get with your purchase. Secondly, this is a piece of JUNK! Mom had a hard time making a cupcake come out looking good. Not sure how the manufacturer expected kiddos to be able to do this well. Don't waste your money!
