I bought the cupcake maker for my 9 year old. She loves to help mommy bake so thought this would be easy for her to use. The first setback was the mixes have to be "baked" in the microwave one at a time (not something a child can do on their own) The frosting was a chore to put in the frosting tube without making a mess.  The holder for the cupcake is loose. When the handle is depressed with any pressure cupcake, frosting and anything else in its path is thrown over counter-tops, walls and floor.. makes quite a big mess to clean up!!  After the first two cupcakes were made my daughter was disappointed and put the maker in her room and haven't seen it since Christmas..

It's disappointing when things like this aren't as much fun as the child expects. Looking back at such gifts myself, they were learning experiences that taught me to moderate my expectations in life. All part of growing up, I guess.

Good review!
