Jailhouse Inn - Newport, RI Reviews

The Jail House Inn is located in a lovely area of Newport within walking distance to most restaurants, shops, and boating. There was never a problem with parking as the Inn provides free parking to its guests. There is a very nice continental breakfast. A front porch adds to the charm. The room had two queen beds and one half wall of sky lit windows. The windows are stationary and the blinds are in need of dusting & repair - detracting from the view and lacking Newport's ocean breezes. The A/C does provide a comfortable room temperature. The Jailhouse Inn is on the National Register and the barred doors in the entry hall proved it! The room was recently renovated with great results. Very comfortable and clean. Good closet space.Great location on Washington Square. We walked downtown to eat and shop at various hours of the day. The Inn supplied a self serve breakfast which had a good variety of offerings and great coffee! The breakfast area brought everyone together which gave the opportunity to exchange ideas for activities. Staff was helpful and friendly. Only drawback? The Jailhouse Inn in Newport, Rhode Island was a great place to stay. It has nice roomy rooms with good furniture and plenty of anemities. Since it is a B & B, we had a nice breakfast in the breakfast room with plenty of choices. The theme of being a jailhouse is carried out through the entire building. There are jail doors located throughout the Inn and interesting pictures and signs. We were assigned Cell 19, which is on the 3rd floor (no elevator), but a really interesting suite with a great window. The rooms were very clean and comfortable. Staff were very friendly and always accommodating. Nice continental breakfast with coffee and tea available during the entire day. Nice front porch to sit on and enjoy an afternoon cup of tea/coffee with cookies offered by the hotel. the staff was greatly supportive, went out of their way to be of help. the room was very nice, perhaps a little hard to maintain a good temperature in the room. The Jailhouse Inn was more than we expected! The room was beautiful with a very comfortable bed and pillows, beautiful bathroom, we just loved it!
