What a Camera!

5

This camera was received as a gift and we are so very greatful! We have never owned a camcorder before and this is so user friendly and we were able to figure it all out in no time. The picture and sound quality is great! The still camera is a little on the fuzzy side (our digital camera is clearer, but that's ok) but the video quality is amazing!

Good beginner camcorder.  Picture quality is decent, although less so when moving.  Easy to use.  Easy to hold.  Good price for the quality.  Would recommend for the beginner to intermediate user.  Sometimes difficult to hook up to variety of computers, software is somewhat limited.

this is a very easy to use camera , allows you to take single pictures like your camera or movies if you prefer. it has the ability to shoot pictures in low light also fast moving pictures so it is perfect for family memories.  great for trips since you can carry it in a pocket or purse . its light in weight so you can carry it anywhere ready for what ever pictures you might want to take without no worries about running out of film

Not great in low light, but easy to use

3

We bought this camera about a year ago to record our 2 little kids. I researched quite a bit before making my seleciton because I was looking for a camera that could handle various lighting situations. I have to say I'm more than a bit dissappointed - especially given the cost of the camera. It works GREAT outside - and it's certainly easy to use, but unless you have mega-watts of light in your house, expect blurry pictures. It takes a long time to focus, and if your children move around (like most do - ha! ha!) you'll end up with a series of in-focus, then blurry, then in-focus again images. But...it works great outside. As for the software - it's constantly crashing our computer (Windows XP). However, I'm not 100% sure that this isn't because our computer is buggy. But it is a little frustrating, and it means that we haven't been that diligent about putting the videos onto DVDs for the grandparents (who live far away). So I guess my feelings about this camera are probably weighing more negative than positive. Sure, it's easy to use, but when the images aren't clear in low light, what's the point? I found a tech comment about one of the settings for low light (I can't remember the remedy, it was about 6 months ago). I changed the setting and things improved, but it's still not as great as I would have expected given the brand, price and available technologies. The docking station is great and easy to use - we often just hook it up to the TV and watch the videos there versus putting them on a DVD.

not that great

i had an **JVC - Everio GZ-MG255 (30 GB) HDD Camcorder** in th past and did not like it at all. the images and film quality is not good at all. It is blurry and fuzzy. and to put it from video tape to dvd takes special software and it hard to find and expensive, The **JVC - Everio GZ-MG255 (30 GB) HDD Camcorder is also heavy. I felt like I was lift weights all day long. The batteries dont last that long either. it did not last and entire day. ** I missed some of my vaction memories with family because the batteries were dead! in conclusion, I would not recommend the **JVC - Everio GZ-MG255 (30 GB) HDD Camcorder to any one. there are other cheaper brands out there the last longer and have a better quality of video to them.  you need other software to change from video to dvd and it is expensive and hard to use. I would stay away from the **JVC - Everio GZ-MG255 (30 GB) HDD Camcorder** and buy a better higher quality camcorder!  **

It is very reasonably priced and grat for the whole family. It is very durable and the video comes out wonderful. It is easy enough that evnthe kids can use it. It charges easily and the HDD is an absolute must! The JVC everio has a nice screen that is easy to view and trasfers easily to computer for editing. I would defiitely recommend this to anyone lookig for a great vidoe camera.

Everio is Perfect

4

The Everio is the perfect family camcorder.  The Hard Drive is plenty large enough at 30gig.  Plenty of space to record all those family moments.  The quick startup is perfect for catching your little child's moments without having to wait for a long startup.  The built in light is great for low light situations but is not so bright it blinds the subject.  It has an internal micro SD slot for even more memory.  Downloading the images and video is as easy as any regular digital camera.  The files are saved with all information like date, time etc.  The size is perfect, especially for the smaller person like myself.  It's light and small enough to fit in your purse.  It's very simple to use, just point and shoot.  I would really recommend this to anyone who wants to upgrade to a digital camcorder.  Not discs or tapes to worry about carrying around or getting scratched or ruined.  Burning to a dvd or cd is as simple as making a music or photo cd.

Amazing camera for the price.

This camera is worth every penny, and the technology used (hard-drive instead of miniDV or DVD) is much easier to use than the others.  The hard-drive allows for much greater functionality rather than having to lug around a bunch of miniscule tapes or fragile dvds.  Also, the hard-drive's 30gb capacity means you can keep on rolling the video as long as your battery lasts  -  and there's even additional batteries that you can purchase to help keep the film rolling even longer.  The ease and functionality of this little gem give it five stars in my book.
