J*Davey - The Beauty In Distortion / The Land Of The Lost Review

SO many times I have walked into my favorite music shop (The Sound Garden, Baltimore, Md:~) and have been stopped in my tracks by the sound of something I have never heard before yet instantly like. Last week I stopped into The Sound Garden looking for DVD for a friend and a hypnotic groove made me forget for a second why I was there. Without even pre-sampling the CD I grabbed a copy which I never opened until today.........BOY why did I wait!  Today's mainstream r&b music is very limited in range and it's so refreshing to come across those who dare to do and be different. To even limit this to calling this just an r&b CD is a crime in itself because it's steeped many styles, textures, and layers that there is something to discover at every turn jumping from neo-soul to new-wave punk without missing one beat! With this being a double CD you could run the risk of becoming tired quickly but luckily that is not the case here. With every twist and turn you are given fresh and innovative sounds.....allot of which is missing in today's music scene.
