I am not usually a fan of super hero type movies. Sure, I loved Batman Begins and love the classic Supermans, but, thats about it. So, with that being said, I could have cared less to see this one, but my husband loves this stuff, and as a kid, read all the comics. So, we decided to see a movie for our anniversary. We decided to visit the new big theatre that opened, and it was packed. Most movies were sold out, and since we had a sitter and was on borrowed time, couldn't wait for the next showing on most movies, so, I gave in and agreed to sit through Iron Man. My husband is a HUGE Batman freak, and I knew that the new batman trailer for The Dark Knight was showing before Iron man, so, Happy anniversary honey, you get to see your batman trailer. Well, within 2 minutes of the movie starting, I was all in! Robert Downey Jr. commands your attention as Tony Stark, and I can't see anyone else playing this role. Superb acting for the whole cast, really.

Not being a comic book reader, and not really knowing anything about Iron Man, didn't hurt me any. Everything you needed to know was in this movie. In my opinion, this particular movie wasn't even about a super hero. It was about a man that needed this suit to survive, and then perfecting on it. I am sure that there will be sequels, and that is where the super hero will come out. Here is a VERY condensed synopsis of Iron man. The movie is about Tony Stark, an insanely intellegent man that, through his fathers legacy, makes powerful weapons and missiles that the military use. After being taken hostage in Afghanistan, he has a change of heart, seeing the destruction that his weapons can cause. While in captivity, he builds this iron suit to escape. After getting home, he works to improve upon this suit, and focuses on it rather than weapons. The rest is left to be seen, don't want to get into too much detail and spoil anything. Only tidbit I will give is that if you decide to see this movie, make sure you sit through ALL the credits, you won't be disappointed.

The cgi graphics are great, and the sound was awesome in THX. Great storyline. There were intense parts, and hilarious parts, and just enough mush to satisfy the ladies. As I said, the acting is great. Robert Downey Jr makes a great, sarcastic, lead and Gwenyth Paltrow is great as Pepper Potts, his assistant. It also has Jeff Bridges and Terrence Howard, both equally wonderful. The movie is rated PG-13, so even though people assume it is for kids, it really isn't, at least not for the younger ones. It is a little over 2 hours, but keeps you in the whole time.

I give this movie 2 thumbs WAY up, and would see it again. In fact, I know we will be buying this one when it comes out!
