So basically its an air cleaner, and it does it job very well. I've had asthma all my life and so far this air cleaner has helped the most. The only real down point of this item is the fact that about once a week it has to be cleaned which if you are really busy that can be kind of a hassle. One thing to keep in mine is when you take out the cartridge for cleaning you have to touch the metal blades to the faucet or some other ground source before you touch them because they become electrically charged. All in all I'd say that it all depends on how much the clean air is worth to you, if its worth a cleaning each week then get one.

I do get the buzzing and thats usually the "signal" for me that its time to be cleaned. Usually cleaning it takes care of it until its time to be cleaned again which for me is about once every week or two.
