Pros

    nothing is sugarcoated, show helps people, teaches people about addiction, often the addict is saved, gripping real life drama

 i watch this tv show with my 16 year old daughter and it allows us to openly discuss problems that people have when they have addictions, and it also creates a way for me to encourage her to never use drugs.  the show also covers eting disorders, and gambling among other things that should be talked about as well.
