The Chicago Intercontinental Hotel was a good choice for us. The location was excellent; it was within walking distance of the Millenium Park, the Chicago Institute of Art, the architectural boat tours, and Michigan Avenue. A free trolley to Navy Pier was about two blocks away. The hotel had very nice amenities; one drawback was the very expensive breakfast. I think that problem will be remedied when the Starbucks opens in the lobby. We were close to other restaurants and one night we were able to walk to our dinner; the other night, a short cab ride took us to our destination.

Shopping: Short Walk, Across the street is a multi-story mall with Nordstrom's. All along Michigan Avenue for several blocks are all kinds of upscale stores: Brooks Brothers, Saks Fifth Ave., Nieman Marcus, Talbots, Ann Taylor, Coach, etc.
