Innova Evo Small Bite Dry Dog Food (28.6ib Bag) —

We appear to have grain allergies which manifest themselves in my poor dog biting himself raw, so I was looking for grain free alternatives to help him heal, and to remove all possible sources of irritant, so we could find out what the exact triggers were.   Evo was recommended at the local holistic pet store, and I sucked it up and bought the largest bag available (not even 30lbs) and it cost me almost $60...and with a giant breed dog, the bag didn't last very long.  Despite being told that you will feed less, what they don't tell you is that you don't feed the lesser amount immediately.....there is a period of adjustment (which took about four weeks or two full bags plus a bit more) before we could reduce the daily amounts significantly.   I have to admit, the dog adores the stuff....eats like there is not tomorrow, and the itching and biting and scratching has slacked off.  The skin and coat are healing up nicely, but this product is way to costly for owners of large breed animals to use on an exclusive basis.  There are some other grain free products and companies out there that I am exploring that are not so cost intensive (still pricey but not so much as the EVO)  It is really hard when you have a great product that lives up to claims, but is simply too costly to be practical for long term use.  And for those folks on the fence, perhaps this will be a deciding factor...we have noticed a serious decrease in solid waste in the yard with the EVO.  Not as much poop to scoop (which is nice) and the poop that is missed with the scoop more readily melts away in the rain...so obviously the dog is getting more benefit of the nutrition of the food.

don't know when you wrote this review but try Abady dog food in the granular form. i have a bull mastiff and it does wonders for him. it is a bit pricey but the large box lasts me a month so i guess it evens out. good luck

I noticed on one of the ads on the right hand side of the screen this dogfood can be bought for a lower price. Perhaps you can find a better deal on-line? Sounds like a good product though.
