Infantino Sling Rider Review Summary

With a 50/50 chance of parents recommending it, The Infantino Sing Rider is a ring sling that includes a swaddle strap to keep baby secure. The benefit of Infantino Sling Rider is that it “snuggles baby very close” keeping baby warm (though can be “horribly hot in warm weather.”) Many parents report that this closeness is great for getting “a fussy baby to sleep.” Slightly larger in size, the Sling Rider is perfect for plus-size mamas. According to one voluptuous mom “I have never been able to find another baby carrier that I can use comfortably, if at all.” This bulky size doesn’t bode well for those wanting to wear the baby and multi-task in the process as the bulk just gets in the way. In spite of this the Sling Rider can be “very hard to position” since the “strap doesn’t sit right over the shoulder.” The biggest concern for many reviewers though is that the Infantino Sling Rider tends to cover the baby’s face. With an average cost of around $20, the Infantino Sling rider is inexpensive and “ok for occasional use,” but many would recommend researching further. I am a new mom and love the idea of having my little guy snuggled up against me.

I am a plus-size mama with a large chest. I have never been able to find another baby carrier that I can use comfortably, if at all. (I searched when I took care of my niece years ago and searched my entire pregnancy!)

I got this for my baby shower and thought I would love it because I could carry my baby and do other things.  My baby hated it.  It covered his face and I was worried that he wouldn't be able to breath.  After different positions and arm shoulder maneuvers, I just gave up and returned it.

I was very unhappy with the Sling Rider.  I tried it when my son was about a month old and he screamed and cried until I took him out.  I thought the velcro would be great for helping to keep him secure, but it was uncomfortable for him.  I also didn't like the way the opening seemed to close around him completely.  I put it away to try again later.  Again when he was about 7 months, we tried again.  He still hated it.

It was also uncomfortable for me.  The strap is too thick and kept hitting me in the neck.  I never felt he was secure in it.

I bought this when my youngest was born. I hated carrying the car seat in the store and this seemed like it would be easier. It's kinda difficult to get baby in and out of. The plastic adjuster thing dug into my skin so bad though. I loved carrying my son around in this but hated the pain from the plastic. I ended up tying a knot in it around it and that solved the problem. They say you can use this til your baby is a year old but I don't see how. Once my son got to be about 8 months he was just too heavy and I thought he'd fall out so I quit using it. The velcro thing in it never did keep my son... review »

I got this as a gift with my first child.  I was a little hesitant to use it with my second one after the recall but I did my research and discovered everything was fine with mine.  This is a LIFESAVER!  There are sooooo many things that a parent can do without and that ends up being a waste of money because it never gets used but this item should go on the MUST HAVE, CAN'T LIVE WITHOUT list!  For a newborn, coming into the world, outside of its little snuggly and warm world is rough and takes some getting used to so it almost seems to cruel to insist on them being alone or put down even sometimes. ...

I bought this baby sling with my second child, because I found the Snugli infant/baby carrier didn't seem to hold my newborn comfortably.  I loved the way the Infantino Sling Rider fit on me, and how close my baby was to me.  It was easy to maneuver as I walked around with the baby, and didn't seem bulky (compared to the Snugli carrier and my diaper bag!).  However, as my second (and now third) child was born in May, I found immediately that the Sling Rider kept the baby too warm (even though the box did say that there were breathable fabrics to help vent the inside of the carrier).  The...

I owned the infantino sling rider with my second child.  I loved this sling because I was able to lull him to sleep when he had collic.  My son NEVER slept, he cried non stop.....until i put him in this sling and walked him around.  This was also especially helpful since I had another 18 month old son, and was recovering from a c-section.  This sling is the ONLY reason I got to sleep at all.  Also, I am a plus size mom, and the sling fit comfortably for me and baby both.

The main thing I did NOT like about the sling is the level of support it offered baby.  I always found  myself still holding...

I am the proud mommy of 2 boys. I used a different brand of "baby sling" with my older son and I liked it much better then the Infantino Sling Rider. With my infant son I just bought the Infantino Sling and I don't care for it at all. First of all, It covers my babys face so that he cannot see out, and he hates that!  Also, since the weather is warm this time of year, the lining makes him sweat. I also bought the sling with the intention of trying to "wear" the baby and get housework done, yet I can't do much of anything while wearing the sling because it is so bulky and big. Another drawback... review »

I bought this sling when my daughter was an infant.  She was very small and I liked the idea of the velcro straps in the sling to help hold her inside.  I was a first time parent and new to baby wearing so I didn't really want to invest a lot of money in a sling at the time.  I thought that this sling would be a good place to start since it was priced around $20.

Once I tried to wear my daughter in the sling, I quickly discovered that I should have spent the extra money on a better quality one.  My daughter was lost in the sling and there was no way to tighten up the sling so that she was...

I love the idea of this product.  My son loved riding in this when he was an infant.  It was nice and warm and he felt very cuddled.  I even breast-fed him once while wearing this and it was not too difficult.  My problem with this product is that it is not meant for short, small people.  I am only 5' 2'' and I weighed 130 2 weeks after giving birth.  My baby was big, 9.9 lbs, so he was kinda heavy.  I had to adjust it ALL the way to the very furthest it could go, and it was still a bit too long for me to wear comfortably.  I could only wear it for short priods of time without getting... review »

I registered for and got this sling for our first baby. I loved it when she was about 3 weeks up until 4 months. After 4 months, she just got too heavy for me to carry this way so I switched to a nother carrier.

I like that it snuggles baby very close, like the womb, and keeps her safe with a strap. Some parents think the face gets covered/smushed....I never thought that, and my daughter loved riding in it. Even when she was fussy and not interested in napping, if I put her in the sling and walked, she fell right to sleep.

I recommend this for moms who need a break in the early stages, but still...

This carrier is not safe for small children.  It is too easy for the baby's face to get covered up by the heavy padding.  This allows for re-breathing, which is extremely dangerous.  It also is too easy for the baby to have their chin touching their chest, which cuts off breathing for the baby.  This carrier is cheap and easy to find, but I would never recommend it nor would I allow friends or family to put their children in the carrier.  There are many other options available that are safer and just as easy to purchase without the added safety concerns.

I recently bought the Slingrider for my daughter. She likes to be held constantly. So I figured this would help me hold her close and get my house work done. WRONG!!! She is  6 weeks old and too small for the sling. She got lost in it. The picture on the box shows the mother looking at her baby while it's in the sling. I couldn't see my baby. And she hated it. The sides of the sling (which are mesh and suppose to be breathable) we smothering her. Maybe for an older baby this would work. I don't recommend it. And if you are still considering it. try it on first.

I bought this product for use with my infant daughter, to help make carrying her easier, and still keep her close to me.

My 1 month old daughter (at the time I used it) seemed to like being in it allright, and went right to sleep.
But I kept having to move the sides from her head because they seemed to want to close in and cover her face.
Also, it puts all the weight on the one shoulder, and that made it harder for me.

I can do the front carrier just fine, but this was too uncomfortable.

If you're really interested in wearing your baby, I would suggest buying a carrier from a company who specializes in carriers, such as Maya or Hotsling, instead of getting this one.  While it's ok for occassional use, I found I was always trying to adjust it so that my baby's face wasn't covered and it was resting comfortably on my shoulders and back.

Also, I had a June baby and most of the time it was way too hot to carry her in this.  There is one available with Coolmax that may work better for summer babies.

Bought this product because I wanted a sling to be able to wear my baby safely with my hands free to work. I am a smaller woman and I had to adjust it to the smallest setting and it still hung lower than it was supposed to. Also it is really bulky and the strap doesn't sit right over the shoulder despite the padding. When I put my baby in it all she did was cry because she was bent in such an odd position that could not be changed no matter what. And breastfeeding...it just doesn't work. I am returning this sling.
