Not so futuristic that it's unbelievable (with a few exceptions). Roberts (writing as J.D. Robb) pulls you in quickly with her quirky characters. I found some of the plots a bit predictable but have read the series regardless because of the engaging characters.  You cannot help but want to find out what happens next with them. Eve with her disturbing past, illogical fear of children and solid view of right and wrong captured and held my attention immediately. And Roarke with his shady background, unwaving loyalty and appreciation for the "gray" area is a perfect match.

I personally feel that not all the books in the series are that wonderful and some take awhile before they pick up and grab your attention. But even with that in mind, I would recommend it to someone who enjoys romantic-suspense.
