After battling two different flus/viruses, I can finally narrow down the remedies that actually worked for me, and there was one: **Imodium A-D**. From now on, I won't even waste my time experimenting with other medicines because this one worked great for me. Effectiveness Worked great even when not taken as directed (with food, versus on an empty stomach). Ease of Use Simply take with water. Immediacy I can't remember exactly how long it took to be effective, but I know that it wasn't long, and once it started working, I was cured.

I found out how good these were last year when I had the flu.. My gosh I was sick! I was staying in the bathroom, because there was no way I'd make it back in time if I were to try to go to another room. After I had my first daughter I contracted Irritable Bowel Syndrome. Not to gross anyone out who my be reading my review I basically had diarhea constatnly for nine months after having her. I was afraid to use Immodium because I breast fed the first four months. When I went to my doctor Immodium is what he prescribed I use on a daily basis. Immodium stopped the diarhea. What I love the most is that it will stop the diarhea without contapating you so then you can't poop for a week. Immodium even helps with gas. It is a miracle stomache medicine that must be in everyones medicine cabinet. Sometimes It can be on the expensive side but generic versions are available and i don't think it really matters which you you buy, they both have the same active ingrediant. **The Bottom Line:  **This works! Especially on a cruise ship with 3000 other sick folks. I am SO glad I purchased it for my emergency kit. Works in 4 hours. WOW! 14 nights on a Trans canal cruise & the Norovirus struck big time! We thought we were washing hands & staying clear of the sick folks, but when it hit it was horrible & people are locked in staterooms for 4 nights. With a cruise ship bathroom, shower 2'X 5', a sink that is a foot large & a toilet that has the smallest hole known to man & is pressure assisted to flush, when there is pressure. So 2 sick folks with diarrhea & vomiting made for a fun attempt at being human. But we survived within 4 hours!Before we left I packed an emergency kit with bandages, Neosporin, Advil's small bottle, and box of Immodium AD. Within 4 hours we just shut off! Took a good 24 hours until we were fairly back to normal, but that is one great cork that plugged it up for us.  We did keep taking the pill every morning, but even the flight home we were safe. Great to goto Dinner that night & 4 other folks were there instead of 1500, so that is one violent illness that takes only one sick person to contaminate a whole ship including crew. Even the entertainers were canceled due to illness. We learned some very interesting facts. It is a VIRUS so antibiotics do not work, so the hand lotion from Purell & others that is antibiotic doesn't work on Nirovirus aka Norwalk Virus. Just hot water & plenty of soap washing as you sing Happy Birthday to your self & a second round as you rinse. Then us a paper towel for door handle when going to dinner. We felt like Monk! Thank you to whomever invented Immodium AD!  We had a great cruise on Radiance of the Seas.

I have an intestional condition that causes almost everything I eat to double me over with severe cramping. My gastroenterologist told me to take one of these caplets 30 minutes prior to eating and I shouldn't have symptoms. For me, it is a miracle in a caplet. I can actually enjoy food without the pain of eating it. I carry these caplets with me at all times. For the past few months, they have been very elusive. I am not sure if they are on recall or perhaps the retailers that have always carried them no longer do. I have tried the generic products and the store brand equivalents. They just don't work the same way. I will still have some type of symptom. Immodium usually puts out good coupons in the Sunday inserts so I scour the papers for these coupons. This is an expensive product and the coupons make them more economical. This is one of those products that I will purchase even without a coupon. Simply put, it works!! I highly recommend Immodium A-D caplets.

This is one item whose marketing is 100% truth. I take a 4th of a pill, and that's all ever. That's how powerful an anti diarrhea medicine it is. I've always been surprised a script isn't required. I can tell you those who've taken a whole teeny caplet couldn't GO for a week and vow to never do that again and I'm talking 200lb people not lightweights. Tread lightly if you've never taken it before. I'd also like to underscore a warning on many *glycoside* antibiotics like *AMIKACIN* and Gentamicin. These powerful drugs can cause a C Difficile intestinal disease MONTHS AFTER YOU ARE NO LONGER TAKING THEM. And if you try to treat that diarrhea with an antidiarrheal med you will make things dreadfully worse for yourself. So be sure to search your medical history memory before taking this product for what might not be common diarrhea.

Imodium Ad is something I would recommend. After being sick with a stomach virus that lasted almost three days I felt washed out and could hardly get out of bed to reach the toilet and then I remembered Imodium and took two tablets and within less then an hour I felt the first signs of relief. This product definitely does what it says it will and works fast it was a blessing and something you should keep in your medicine chest as you never know when you might need it.

Recently I had a bad stomach bug.  I mean bad.  At first I thought it was food poisoning as I was the only one in my family who needed to be charged rent because I was spending so much time in the bathroom.  Crawling from the bathroom to the bedroom I texted my husband and ask him to bring home Imodium A D or come home and put me out of my misery.  He walked in the house and told me that the store didn't have any - and I sent him out again!  Imodium AD is designed  to help you get over a case of diarrhea really fast. In 4 hours actually. To use Imodium you take one tablet at the first sign of a problem, then take another one if you continue to experience "technical difficulties" with your stomach.  I used the chewables for my last attack of stomach flu.  My Viewpoint:  Imodium AD works, and it works fast. Every time I have used it I have never needed more than a second dose - and that's even after I have waiting long past the first instance has happened.  The chewable tablets have a faint mint taste, but not too chalky. You easily chew up the little light green tablet and wait for the relief to come.   Four hours later, no more running to the bathroom, and I am able to actually keep the Gatorade down that my husband picked up for me at the store during his stock up for stomach sickness trip.   The only "downside" on your backside is that sometimes Imodium AD  works a little too well, and it may be some time before your body is back on schedule.  An apple a day or other high fiber product should take care of the problem is needed.

The one thing you do not need to worry about when you get this particular variety of medical inconvenience is some kind of fancy product that does not work. I have kept Imodium AD in our medicine cabinet for years and whenever someone in our household has this kind of problem, this is what I give them. It is easy to take and seems to give relief faster than the competing products I have been forced to use on occasion when I am traveling. There are some things your house has to have--smoke detectors, emergency flashlights and water, and other emergency supplies. Imodium is certainly on that list, at least in our house. I also like that it is easy to take and does not have any unpleasant taste, and you don't have to consume a large amount to get the job done.
