What can I say about IKEA other then I LOVE IT...
I was introduced to this store by my friend who lives in Chicago. I live in Green Bay, WI and was down for a visit. We decided to shop in Schaumburg and she stated there was this store I had to see... Before we entered, I gazed at this huge blue and gold building and thought WOW... then Amy said this " We need to decide how long we will shop before we go in... What time do you want to leave by?" I looked at her like she was crazy... WHAT? A time limit?... I thought she was nuts.
We went in and spent 5 hours and spent about $150.00/hour... I guess that is what she meant, I recalled as we stuffed my Mini Cooper to the rim with our prizes. It was quite an experiences!!!
First off there are 3 floors to prowl. 2 of the floors have the merchandise displayed as it would look in an home, apartment or dorm. It was awesome to see the unique storage ideas, colors and decor. That took me forever to view. Of course I had to sit or lay on everything... touch and unfold... and play. (oh not to mention, if you bring kids, there are little play areas for them to have fun in too).
Ok so I got a little carried away, but I just bought my first home and needed stuff! Curtain rods and curtains, art work, storage boxes, shelving, bathroom stuff, end-tables, a chair...etc....etc... etc... and HANGERS... they have these plastic hangers to die for. They curve just right so that you do not get those any of the pokes in the shoulders of your shirt... BUY some if you do not already have them... and their CHEAP
To make a long story short, I bought a lot... and then went home to tell everyone... in the next 4 months I made 6 return trips and introduced dozens of new customers to that store. I should really get a cut of the profits.
Big draw back is crappy customer service. The workers are all from an unhappy farm and are rude and cold. The checkouts are swamped and take forever... stop and get a coffee or soda for the wait (and some oatmeal chocolate coated cookies...YUM).
Try the store... there is one by the Mall of America too (though I do not like that one as much)
