I'm 27 years old and I've had dogs in my house my entire life. My family had always used Purina One dog food. 4 years ago I bought my two lab puppies and we had started out feeding them Purina one as usual but when they were around a year old the vet told me that one of the dogs was overweight. They get a lot of time outside so I was pretty upset to hear that. When the vet and I were discussing the situation I found out that the food we had been feeding them has a lot of carbs and fillers and is not necessarily as good for dogs as my family had thought. He reviewed with me a bunch of other types and the IAMS weight control seemed like the best choice. It was healthy, available and not very overpriced. Since switching both of my dogs are at a normal weight and also seem much happier and healthier, they LOVE this food! I can get it at a grocery store, tractor supply or a pet supply store and its about the same cost as most brands of dog food. I am very glad I switched my dogs to this and so are they.

Our dog Ana was always always overweight and pretty unhealthy looking.  She looked VERY well fed though.  We never allowed her to just graze all day and she always had scheduled feeding times, but still she was really overweight.  I started doing some research on various dog foods and Iams seemed to be really good for the price.  I would call it a middle of the line dog food (better than Pedigree but not as great as Eukanuba).  For people that are super budget concious Iams is a bit more pricey.  I decided to try Iams with our pets, and since Ana was overweight I got her the weight control.  After just a few months of this food she looked like a completely different dog, completely healthy and had MUCH more energy.  Other foods also tend to give her bad gas, but with Iams she had less gas and less stools.  Family that have come to town to see us that hasn't seen Ana in a while ask if it's the same dog, and when I tell them it is they don't belive me!

was very skeptical on the product b/c i could buy cheaper. but after two weeks my dogs coat was shinier, his eye were brighter and he seems to be losing those lay around pounds. he isnt as sleepy and seems more active. and he actually eats all his food unlike other brands where he has left some or we had to doctor it up so he would eat it

I used to be a faithful Iams user until I read the ingredients on the back. The first ingredient is not meat as most "healthy" dog foods claim. I began to buy Healthwise brand at my local Pet Food Store. It is even cheaper than Iams...comes in the Weight Control also, and offers me a free bag for every 10 purchased. I also buy the same brand now for my cat as well. You will find the same to be true with Science Diet and other more expensive brands.

I have always feed my dog Iams, but not the Weight Control Large Breed Iams. My dogs all ate the orange bag of Iams and they were allowed to eat anytime that wanted. I found out from my vet that my dogs were over weight, so I needed to put them on a diet. I had to put my dogs on a diet or they were going to die from being so over weight.  After feeding them the Weight Control Large Breed Dog Food for several months my two large dogs are losing the weight they need to live a long healty life. I would recommend this dog for to anyone that has dogs that are over weight, it does work.

We used IAMS Weight Control because our wonderful dog, Muttlie, was thirty pounds overweight and he started having seizures, he was about 105 pounds. Over the course of two years he lost thirty pounds and got down to his normal weight of seventy five pounds. I beleive this product prolonged Muttlie's life multiple years. He lived to be almost fifteen years old thanks to IAMS Weight Control Dog Food and we did take great care of him. We will not use inferior dog foods with any of our dogs because they are part of our family and we want them to be with us for as long as possible. We now have two new puppies that we have started feeding IAMS Puppy Food, Gracie is a Sheltie and Gus is a Yellow Lab which we found on a busy road, we actually almost ran him over. He was about eight weeks old when we found him, he was covered in ticks, dehydrated and near death, we cleaned him up and he slept for 15 hours straight. We tried to find him a home, little did we know, he had already found his home. He is now doing great!

My dog was born with hip dysplasia in both hips and had surgery at a very young age to correct it. As she got older, she packed on some pounds, but because of the surgery, I was told she needed to loose some weight so that she wouldn't damage the repair work and so that she would be healthier overall. We started out on one of the more expensive veterinary foods from the vet office, but I really didn't want to pay that price every time we needed food. So, I looked at other foods and eventually settled on the Iams Weight Management food for large breeds dogs. I have given my dog the recommended amount consistently for a couple of years now and her weight has gone down. She lost five pounds in one year and she's only got five more to go. The veterinarian has been very pleased with her successful weight loss and I contribute most of that success to this food. I also cut down on the amount of treats she receives, but she still gets quite a few and she also licks the plates after dinner, so the only major thing that changed in her day-to-day activities was the type of food she ate, and I truly believe it was instrumental in helping her shed a few pounds. I've been very pleased with this food and it's easy to find in almost any supermarket and there are often coupons available, which is another plus for me.
