I have always had trouble getting my dogs to lose weight. While looking for a "low calorie" dog food I realized that the calories in the large breed dog food is less, especially in the "mature" formula. Changing to a larger sized food make a huge difference. Not only are my dogs losing weight, they are still getting the same amount of food, so they are not having any negative side effects like food aggression. Though this is not advertised as a weight loss food, it is something to look into if you need a dog to lose weight.

I had heard some not great things about Iams products (recalls, etc.), but my St. Bernard wasn't doing well with the other brand of dog food I was using, so I thought I would give this a try. My dog definitely preferred this brand and he finally started putting on some greatly needed weight and seemed to have more energy. While the quality of ingredients may not be as good as that of some other brands, I liked the price of Iams and my dog seems to like the taste. If you can easily afford some of the higher end products, I would recommend them, but Iams seems to be working just fine for a little lower price if you are like me and don't want to spend a lot of money. Quality of Ingredients Not as good and natural as some other brands, but good quality for the price. Flavor Selection There aren't as many flavors as other brands, but I do like that there are different varieties for different sizes of dogs as I have one smaller dog and one large breed.

I bought this food for my golden retriever, because I wanted a food made specifically for bigger breeds. She was also about five years old at the time, so getting her a food specifically for bigger adult dogs seemed like a good idea at the time. I had never used Iams before this purchase, but I had not heard a lot about them. I had a coupon so I bought the food. The cost was not bad and with the coupon, I did not have to spend very much. The first time I fed it to my dog, she did not get sick or anything and she seemed to like it. Although one thing about this food is that it did make her gain weight. I only fed her in the morning and at night. I definitely did not over feed her and she gained about ten pounds in the span of a month. That is a little much considering she was very active. I finally sat down and researched this type of food later and was surprised to find that the ingredients are not as good as they would lead you believe. I was very upset about that. I did not buy this food again after that; we switched her to another food.

My dogs have been using Iams since they were puppies. Their coats are shiny, they are strong, active dogs whose overall health is good. Flavor Selection I give Iams a low rating in flavor selection for the simple fact that there really is no flavor selection. We as people, get tired of eating the same thing everyday and often change things up a bit. Animals are the same way. They need more variety in their meal.

We love our dog, Max, so we try to feed him only the best. We are fairly new to owning a dog, so it's definitely a learning experience! There are hundreds of brands of dog food (it seems like) to choose from, and it's hard knowing which is best for your personal dog. Not every dog is the same or has the same nutritional needs. I hate to buy him something and think it might not be good for him. We were using another brand but were running low, so we gave him a sample of a different brand we'd received. It gave him severe diarrhea, which he couldn't even make it outdoors for, because it attacked his system that quickly. We had even mixed it with his regular food hoping that wouldn't upset him. No such luck! So, we decided to change his food completely-introducing it slowly, of course. We decided on Iams ProActive Health Large Breed Dry Dog Food. Max is an 85 lb. American Bulldog and is extremely active, so we figured it was worth a try. He loves it! He eats it up and hasn't had any intestinal or bowel issues. We feel like he's getting all of the protein and nutrients he needs and we supplement with Iams treats for extra calories and as training rewards. We are so glad we decided on this dog food! My two English bulldogs have been eating this for many years. they love the taste and they look great. many pure breed dogs have many issues and there skin can be a problem. But them eating Iams is the best thing possible. They were eating Science diet but the product got to expensive and i needed to change food. I wasnt sure if the dogs would like the food. but they did and there skin is great and also there coat. I was glad to switch the food.

After the initial excitement of the other brand wore off, he would hardly touch it. Back to Iams, everything's fine again. my dogs have done well on this iams large breed (I have boxers) The first ingredient is not corn or corn meal (Yeah), and they seem to like it. Both dogs have a nice shiny coat, so it must be doing something good for them. Quality of Ingredients I'm not thrilled with all the ingredients, as I would like to be able to give them a better quality dog food, like Blue Buffalo, but having 2 big dogs is a little costly. My dogs are all vet checked and they are doing well with the iams.

Dog foods are usually segmented by a dog's life stage. Puppies have their own food, adult dogs have their own variety, and older dogs have special food for their delicate systems. This has been the standard for years and it still exists, but today, manufacturers have developed food that is specially made based on, among other things, a dog's size. One good example is Iams Large Breed Adult Dog Formula. Iams Large Breed Adult Dog Formula contains special ingredients supposedly to help larger breeds of dogs. Larger dogs often have special problems with muscles and other things and this brand of dog food contains additives intended to help these larger breeds maintain maximum health. I'm no expert on canine medicine, so I cannot comment on the effectiveness of these special ingredients, but I can comment on the remaining ingredients and I can say that the other things are not too bad, compared to the majority of dog foods available. There are a few ingredients that I wish were absent, but what is present is still not too bad, especially compared to the majority of grocery store dog food. I have had good luck with Iams Large Breed Adult Dog Formula, but I will say that the taste isn't something that gets my dogs attention. He will eat it, but it doesn't work him into a frenzy the way certain other foods do. This could be considered good or bad, depending on one's perspective. The lack of extreme appeal could help dogs with overeating tendencies, but the product could prove a complete dud to finicky eaters. Iams Large Breed Adult Dog Formula isn't the absolute greatest dog food and there are better options in pet stores, but it is better than the average store bought dog food and it is a dog food with enough good points to consider it for your dog's next meal. Quality of Ingredients There are a few ingredients I question, but the majority of ingredients are better than what you get with other grocery store dog foods. Flavor Selection Iams, in general, offers a good number of flavor options but the large breed variety doesn't.

I have fed my large mixed breed dog IAMS Large Breed Adult Dog Food for most of her fifteen years. My veterinarian says she is a perfect specimen. People in the park say she is stunning. I have never had a single issue with IAMS Large Breed Adult Dog Food and she remains in top form. I chalk it up to lots of exercise and this food.  She has a super soft shiny coat and a ton of energy. My large breed dog loves the Iams dog food. My dog had digestion problems at a young age, but that is no longer the case since I switched to Iams. The price is reasonable.  I do notice that her coat is always soft and shiny and I get lots of compliments on her. She is happy and love the taste of it.  Overall, IAMS Large Breed Adult Dog Food provides my dog with appropriate nutrition, and it is easy on her sensitive digestive system.  I would recommend this product to anyone with a large breed dog because I know other people who feed it to their dogs and they have the same great results.  Quality of Ingredients High quality ingredients. Side Effects Keeps my dog healthy. No digestive problems.
