For many months now I have been frustrated by the fact that I could extend my laptop to two monitors and still use the LCD on the laptop, in effect having 3 screens combined as one. I've heard matrox makes a product that would allow me to do this, but I did not feel like shelling out the $150-$250 that would be required.
That's when I came across IOGear's USB 2.0 External VGA Video Card. The install was extremely simple. All you have to do is follow the prompts and plug the USB end of the device into the PC and the SVGA cable from your monitor into the other end. Within display settings you will now have 3 monitors instead of 2. It works really well and for only $70. I know the purists out there will talk about the lack of resolution. And I would agree that it wouldn't be great for playing hi res games. But if you want to add a second monitor to your layout without loosing your laptops LCD this product is for you!
