I love my ING Direct savings account and cd. I've been with them since the end of 2004. I was a little hesitant about an online only bank in the beginning but after 4 years I have complete confidence in them. I use USAA for everything else but could not find a higher interest rate for savings than ING. Right now is not very high (here or anywhere) but it is still higher than other places by quite a bit. It is very easy to use and make transfers in and out. There is a limit per month on transfers out but it is a savings not a checking account so I do nott see why you would need more. I have had short term cd's with them a few times. I always make sure to keep an eye out when the term is about to end because they automatically renew so if the interest rate is not what I want, I will transfer to the savings account. I usually do it over the phone and a lot of the time they will offer you a little bit better of a rate. Their customer service is English speaking and helpful. When I got my first cd, I had a lot of questions and they were very patient and knowledgeable. I was very impressed. They also did not give me any problem with my power of attorney when my husband was in Iraq. That may not seem like a big deal but Bank of America Military Bank who I had accounts with at the time gave me some problems and I also had issues with Armed Forces Bank when it came to that. I love the referral program. I unfortunately have not had many people join but when I did, the credit was very prompt I did not have to go and contact them asking why it was not there. I will continue to stick with ING and recommend everyone else gets a savings account with them! As far as cd's go, it really depends on how long you want to keep it in there, the current rates, etc so shop around. But if you do decide on ING, do it with confidence because it is a great company.
