Good for occasional use

3

This mattress is a little on the thin side but we decided to get it for the guest room. My 13 yr old's friends stay over the most and they just drag this mattress in his room or vice versa. I don't think I would like to sleep on it every night though. Comfort Fine for occasional use such as a guest room or maybe even for a not-too-heavy child. Firmness It's right in the middle of being not too hard and not too soft. Durability I have it for about 9 months and it's fine. I don't see why it wouldn't last for years.

Like A New Mattress Every Night!

5

My old mattress that was quite expensive was caving in on one side (I am a small person so I found this rather odd). I didn't want to spend a fortune again on a mattress that wasn't even going to last it's lifetime. As a college student on a college student's budget, I thought maybe ikea would have an affordable solution. Once I laid on this mattress at the store I was sold! It was perfect in firmness (I like it to be medium- not too soft but not too hard) and provides comfortable support on my back. After having it for nearly a year now, the mattress is still like brand new. There are no signs of wear and you sink into the foam top without having to worry about it staying sunk. I highly recommend this mattress, especially to those whole sleep on their stomachs or sides!

Affordable mattress

I was due for a new bed so I went to Ikea when they were having their winter sale a few years ago so I picked out a bed that was on sale and then headed over to try the different mattresses they sell. Some were too hard and others were too soft, but the Sultan Hasselback seemed pretty good for what I was looking for. I don't remember how much it cost but I would say it was affordable and I still like it years later. It is on the harder side but it has gotten a bit softer over time. I sleep on all sides and find it comfortable. I have not had any major aches and pains from sleeping on this mattress and have not noticed any indents in the mattress. I am sure there are better mattresses out there but the price was right and I do not have any back pain so I was not looking for anything specific, so this mattress was right for me.

good buy

IKEA's sultan hasselback spring mattresses seem just as good as any other spring mattress that i have layed down on. They do not surprise me was how comfortable they are and I also never got the impression that they were horrible products either. They seem to be just like any other mattress except that they are generally cheaper. This makes the overall a very good purchase for someone who is looking to replace or purchase a new mattress. IKEA has several different types of mattresses however and the great thing is that you can test them out in the store, depending on which stores nearby of course. I also know that they have foam mattresses and for someone who is looking for a more soft padding and a softer lay down, then the foam mattress may be preferred over this sultan since it is a spring mattress. I would say that it is a good buy.

Great Mattress, Good Support

5

I bought this mattress on sale last year.  I have to admit. I bought it on the price. After having it for a year or so.. It is the best mattress I have ever owned. It comes with a 20 year warranty. I also bough the Sultan Tuvebo pillow top. This was a good combination. You do have to flip it once in a while. As with others posters, it will take time to break this mattress in. After that, it will become more comfortable. Too they replaced this mattress. I think the replacement is called  Sultan Hagavik or Sultan Hamnvik. For those who said they have problems, they could always return the mattress IF they have a manufactuers or workmanship defect. I fine there return policy reasonable. Also, they have a program called,"love it or exchange it." So, if you bought the mattress and didnt like it within 30 days you can change it for another one. As with any mattress, I would try it in their showroom first. I highly recommend this mattress for those who are looking to purchase a new bed.

Very comfortable, but need to turn it frequently.

Bought it 5 years ago, and still love it.  It was very comfortable from the start; not too soft, not too hard.  Only down side is that it needs to be rotated frequently.  I'm a big guy, and I wear a groove in it within 10 days.  Great deal for the price.

great comfort

This is a great mattress. I will have to admit though when I tried it out in the store it was much more comfortable then when I purchased it and brought it home to sleep on it. I have learned though that it just takes time to "break in". The matress at the store got jumped on and layed on a lot therefore it was much more comfortable there. Don't be surprised if it dissapoints you the first night that you sleep on it. My husband and I are both happy with the choice that we made. It gets more comfortable with time. We also bought a MALM bed to put it into which is nice because as with all european beds purchased at ikea there are no boxsprings. The mattress simply fits right into the frame with wooden slats to hold it off the floor. The only downfall to this is there isn't much space for storage under the bed. Also if you have a low ceiling in your stairway it is nice to not have to get a box spring up the stairs. The mattress is a little more flexible.

Not worth the risk

2

I own three mattresses from IKEA. All are Hasselbecks. Two are great. One is a total failure. I think the problem is IKEA's quality control. Is it worth the risk that you'll buy a dud? I think not.Mine is less than a year old and it's sagging horribly - even though we've flipped it every 3 months. I only weigh 120 pounds. I am awaiting hip replacement surgery and spend a lot of time resting my hip. Still, that shouldn't wear out a mattress in a matter of a few months. IKEA won't give you a refund after a month. So out the door it goes. I wouldn't bothre to sell it because no one would buy it. The two sags are that obvious. Ugh!But!My 16 year old son sleeps on the second one and it's great. The third is in our rental beach house. All kinds of people sleep on it and so do we. It's been there 3 years and is terrific.I think the bottom line is, from now on I'm sticking with a mattress from a mattress company. I was penny wise and pound foolish. I'm off to the mattress shop tomorrow. My hip is more important than the money I saved.

Hard at first...soft after broken in.

This mattress was incredibly comfortable in the store.  Once we got it home, it was hard as a rock!  We've had it now for about 2 1/2 years and it is one of the most comfortable beds I've ever had!  We did get the mattress pad for it and that was also hard at first.  It did soften up as well.  I love the ticking that is on the IKEA mattresses.  It's so soft.  Not slippery like other mattresses. Be careful with sheets though.  You have to get super deep pockets otherwise the sheet just comes off if you have the pad and the mattress. Overall, i would recommend...you just may want 5 monkeys jumping on the bed to break it in.
