Great for the price

This is a great bed. We have had 2.. one twin one king. The edge is very sharp and the corners are very pointy so you should watch your legs. Otherwise great for the price.

Still loving this bed

It was on sale when I purchased this bed. It was affordable. My only issue was that I wish the corners were round. I love the ledges on each side. It made it convenient for my boyfriend and I to put a bottle of water or snacks and drinks. And of course convenient for our cell phones while we charged them there. It was more likeable until we had babies then of course we had to worry more on the corners, which we used the stick on rubber baby proofing along with the ledges too.

Faulty design. Do not buy.

I have bought a lot of furniture from Ikea and this is by far the worst. First, I noticed the holes to put the headboard in are missing. IKEA is out of the way, so I decided not to return it. Having used the bed for 5 months now, it will not stay together. I would not recommend it to anyone.

Durable, but I injured myself on it

This bed is durable and will last a long time. However, about 6 months after purchase, I hooked my ankle under the side of it while getting out of bed and ripped the back of my ankle skin open. Other than that injury, I like this bed because it had a low profile and it looks great with modern furniture.

A good bargain, but quality matches the price.

We got this bed on sale, and was easy to put together (at least for my husband.) Watching him, I was little bit skeptical, because it came with two sets of slats held together by ribbon, and was only held up by some metal bars. However, when we put in the mattress, it seemed to hold up okay. Except every now and then-- the slats would fall off the bars and our whole mattress would sink down on one side. We tried reconfiguring the screws, and it seemed to work for awhile-- but eventually my husband had to put in some screws between the two sets of slats to make sure they stay together so they don't fall through. Ever since then, it's been as good as new. Plus side-- it looks quite nice, and the headboard has a little ledge that's wide enough to hold some essentials for bedtime.

DEFINITELY DISAPPOINTED!!! wood started falling!

a friend of ours gave us a gift--a beautiful and easy to construct Malm bed frame from Ikea. after 6 months--d bottom started falling off!! IKEA failed to mention that it is only for SKINNY people! My husband and I are not fat but whew, the woods are NOT STURDY at all. Every night we would assembly the bottom and once you lie down--you would hear this BLAAGG sound again. once time i had to move it to vacuum under it, and woods fell again! please dont make the same mistake. dont buy this product

Sleek,Great, I LOVEEE it

This bed is everything I have ever wanted and more. It looks great, Glorious price for a platform bed , andit  has some great storage units that can be added. Ikea sells at least three different units with different styles that can be added or taken off at your every whim. I am not the biggest fan of the laminated wood because water can make it bubble, but since my husband and I don't eat or drink in bed we haven't had any issues with that. The only time we have been worried is while moving apartments, if it rains and the water isn't wiped off you might be stuck, but this is the case with most Ikea furniture. If the mattress isn't high enouh one could hurt themselves on the bed frame by hitting it with your head, but since most people have tall mattress and box springs I don't see that being a huge problem. It comes in a variety of colors. I have one in white that is a full bed which was the only color it came in when I bought it. I have had a birch colored one that was a queen which I sold, and now I have a black brown queen version which is my absolute favorite. I know it also comes in a lighter brown version, but it is not my favorite color. I have had mine for over 4 years and love it still!

I love the low european style beds.  We bought our Malm bed at an Ikea in Germany and it has made several moves with us.  As many times as it has been disassembled and put back together, it has always maintained it's integrity. The veneer seems to have discolored slightly since we bought it (6 years ago) but it's still very nice looking and it can change with our tastes. Being low to the ground proved to be a good thing when our baby was born, she fell off once and luckily it was just a little roll instead of a full on cliff jump!  Excellent for parents that co-sleep with children that travel in the night and find their way to the edge.  The other downside is that the edges are very sharp.  We thought about sanding them down but opted to put the ruber edging you find in child safety catalogs.  Helps keep the shins unbruised as well since the edge is the perfect height. It's heavy and awkward to move around once it's put together, so if you like to rearrange a lot make sure you have someone to help you move it or you'll throw a disc.  I do wish there was more storeage space under the bed.  The under bed type storeage boxes are not going to fit, but those vacuum bags fit nicely.   So do cats. I still feel like it was a great buy and worth every penny of the reasonable price!
