When my husband and I were shopping around for a crib, we were amazed at how expensive they were.  I guess I should have known that they would be expensive, but when you are preparing a nursery, things can add up quickly.

I thought I would take a look at IKEA because things there can be quite cheap since you have to assemble everything yourself.  I saw the Leksvik Crib which is made from real wood and at a great price, so I had to have it!  We also bought the IKEA Sultan Dromma crib mattress too.

The IKEA Leksvik Crib is a crib that converts into a toddler bed.  I thought this was perfect because then we wouldn't have to buy a bed for quite a while.  I love that the crib can be adjusted to two different levels.  It can be at the higher level when you have a little baby, and then lowered to the bottom when your baby is old enough to sit up.

Unlike most things at IKEA, the Leksvik Crib is made out of real wood (Beech & Spruce).  The crib comes in a beautiful dark brown color that can match many things and is neutral for both boys and girls.

The Leksvik Crib is:

  • 53 7/8" x 31 1/8"
  • Accommodates a crib mattress sized 27 1/2" x 52"
  • Costs $159.00
  • Must be assembled

The Scoop!

I love this crib and have absolutely no complaints about it.  I'm sure my husband didn't enjoy putting it together, but now we have an inexpensive crib, made out of real wood that one day will save us from buying a toddler bed.  If I had it to do all over again, I would buy this same crib!

Ikea is such a wonderful outfit. My friend tells me this is where I should go when I replace my kitchen cabinets SOMEDAY! i like the crib you bought, it's very sleek and tailored and not too babyish looking. You guys have great taste!

This sounds like a great purchase! I had to laugh at "I'm sure my husband didn't enjoy putting it together..." - I think they really do like it, somehow, though!
