IKEA Dining Tables Review

Recently bought the Granas table and chair set at Ikea for 249$ CAD. It came in 3 large boxes. The chairs and table frame were quite light weight, but the glass top was very heavy.

Putting the set together was for the most part easy and the instructions were easier to follow than a lot of Ikea instruction manuals. The only downside was the chair seats. They are flax straw wrapped around pine or rubberwood. I couldn't find any screw holes drilled into the seats, so it was hard to get all 4 screws in on one chair (out of the 4). It was the first one I put together, so I had tightened down 3 screws and the 4th wouldn't go in no matter how hard I pressed the seat into the frame and tried to get the screw to turn into the wood. The other chairs went fine, I loosely put the 4 screws in before tightening. On the 3 screw chair, even starting over, I can only get 3 screws in.

THe set feels very sturdy, although I wouldn't trust standing in the middle of the chair seat, although sitting on them does not feel unsafe.

All in all, it looks great in my small dining room and I think it will hold up for years. Mind you, I don't eat at the table a lot.

Good deal for the $ and in the future I may get longer screws and recover the seats with something else...which should be very easy to do.
