Most HelpfulI have been feeding my two male housecats this food for the past few years. They seem to enjoy it, but they do not seem to have lost any weight at all. The back of the package has feeding instructions written on it. There are two separate sets of directions: to maintain weight, and to lose weight. My...
review »I used to buy this product for my cat based on the thought that more veternarians recommended this product over cheap cat food. I brought one of my cats in to see a specialist and he said that the most important factor in cat food was the amount of protein vs. filler the company puts into the food. Cats in the wild do not eat corn or rice products- they eat birds and mice. After he told me that, I stopped using Iams since they only had like 30% protein in the food. There are other brands out there that have as much as 42% protein in the dry food. This is what I now use and my cats have...
review »I love cats. I have two. I have tabby cats. They are both grey in color. The reason I am writing this review is because I used Iams weight control for three years until my current vet told us that is had to many carbs in it. My cat is 23 pounds. He does not look obese; he is big. He said to switch him to a high protein diet. It has helped. He stil is a big cat naturally. Iams is a great product. We have used all their products for 20 years. Just consult your doctor if you have any questions about products. All doctors say something different. You have to read the labels...
review »We started using this cat food years ago because we had one overweight cat who was always throwing up from hair hair balls and one cat who was too skinny because the first cat ate all the food. Our vet said IAMS is a good brand and reccomended the low fat hairball control kind. We were instructed to give the cats one half a cup twice a day only. The large cat ate what he could (usually half or a little more) and the small cat ate the rest. They both got better and we have been using it ever since!
My fat cat needed to lose weight (per the Vet) but the Vet food was WAY too expensive so we tried the Iams (still pricey, but cheaper then the Vet food) weight control. So far he has lost 1 and 1/2 lbs and both cats seem happy to eat it. We had been using Iams original so I assume (no taste testing for me) that they are flavored similarly since I had no finicky kitties. It advertises less hairballs too, but my cats rarely have them, they have "ate too fast" moments instead...
