My husband and I were just sick over putting out another 1k for a minor repair to our SAAB 9-5 last year when a friend suggested we buy a new car and recommended the Hyundai sonata. Our SAAB was 8 years old. We loved it. It was the first 'classy' car we had ever purchased and came with lots of bells and whistles. But money had become tight when I came down with breast cancer the year before and couldn't work as much. The maintenance cost was beyond us. This was the second friend to recommend a Hyundai - so I was curious.
We went to a nearby Hyundai dealer over presidents day weekend. My husband and I were sold on the test drive. It was as smooth, comfortable and quiet a ride as you could want. The sonata has a classy, understated and sleek design. It has all the creature comforts - auto transmission, cd player, xm radio, auto recline seats, lumbar support, auto windows, lots of interior storage - and the hugest trunk space I have ever seen in a sedan. It seats my three kids (including 1 teenager and 1 pre-teen) comfortably. We have not had one problem with the car in 13 months. The engineering on the car is great compared to so many others out there - our previous new car was a Kia mini-van which goes in for manufacturing problems about 3x a year. The Sonata's gas milage is great - about 32 highway consistantly and 25 around town. I now recommend this car to anyone in the market for new. We got the Sonata for around 18K and I don't believe there is a comparable deal out there. I am now just waiting for a hybrid version to hit the market so we can grab another one for our second car and ditch the kia.
