Hyundai Elantra - 2003 Review Summary

If you’re a potential car buyer, you should know that our critics were enthusiastic about the 2003 Hyundai Elantra. One fuel conscious driver raves “My 2003 Hyundai Elantra has been the most realiable car that I have ever driven”. Why? “I have had if five years now and it has only been in the shop two times.” Our reviewers also say that the Hyundai Elantra is affordable, offers great gas mileage and comes with 5 years unlimited road side assistance. The only major complaint about this was that “the seats tend to be a little uncomfortable on long car trips”. All in all, however, our reviewers loved it.

As a person who drives long distances on frequent occasions, I need a reliable vehicle.  This one has never let me down.  The company warranty (3 years, 36000 miles for used car owners) got me past a starter at 23000 (just after the previous owner, so I'm sure it was the previous driver and the way they drove the thing).  The 5 years UNLIMITED roadside assistance has been extremely helpful.  I was able to get them to come unlock my car on 3 occassions and they did not charge me a thing.  I was able to get a tow truck when the oil change service guys did not tighten the cap on my oil and I... read full review »

My Hyundai Elantra GLS has 75,000 miles and has not had any repairs. I have been following the maintenance schedule by keeping up with oil changes and tuneups. I do not go to the dealer unless I have to because they are too expensive which I think is true with all car dealers. The michelin tires it came with lasted a long time too. I think Hyundai makes a practical, reliable car with great gas mileage. And the 60,000 mile bumper to bumper warranty and 100,000 mile drivetrain warranty is an incentive for me to buy the car.

My 2003 Hyundai Elantra has been the most reliable car that I have ever driven. I have had it for 5 years now (purchased in fall of 2002) and it has only had to be in the shop 2 times- both for minor repairs. It has travelled long distances as well as all around town and it gets excellent gas milage and is so comfortable. For a smaller car it is extremely roomy holding all of my shopping packages in the trunk and my two medium sized dogs in the backseat and my teenager in the front with me..and we all still have elbow room. I recommend the Hyundai line of vehicles to anyone and although I plan...

I just love this car!  It is great on gas.  I have three children, two in car seats and one in a booster seat, and they all fit in the backseat.  I have a standard.  I never really drove a standard before, I now hate driving an automatic.  We bought this car used, and we like 130,000 miles on it already.  It never gives us hassle.  The only time was when we needed to replace the spark plug wires.  If you are thinking of getting a car, please really consider this car.  I saw it many colors, the best color is silver.

I purchased my 2003 Hyundai Elantra new, and it has been one of the best purchases I ever made.  It was well within my price range, but I still got power everything, traction control, ABS, AND a sunroof! It's terrific on gas, and I've never had anything done but oil changes.  The only issue I've ever had is the seats tend to be a bit uncomfortable on long trips.  Other than that, I love my car!!

This is our first foreign made car and it won't be our last. The car looks good , was affordable and the service is better then any I have had from any domestic dealer. We have made multiple trips in the car and have never had any problems. With the gas prices going over $3.00 a gal it's nice to have a car that doesn't guzzle gas.

I own a Hyundai Sonata, at 1st I adored it, that is the 1st few months, then everyhting went wrong. Now I am not sayinf the Elantra would be the same but the Sonata was told to me it was the best car made by Hyundai (beside the santa fe suv) but this car has cost me more money then its worth. I am not afraid to say we paid in 2006 for a slightly used car 2 yrs old it was a 2004 w/29,000 miles. It ran great and then you name it it went wrong. I just assumed it was my car until I did investigate & my mechanic told me these cars are not bad but some are?? he said to be carefull. would I ever buy another...
