I got the Husqvarna 42" Riding Lawn Tractor over the summer to help make taking care of my acre and a half lawn.  Wow, what a great piece of equipment and talk about expediting the job.  It took what was an all day job and turned it into maybe two hours tops.  It makes a nice, clean cut and is very efficient in the size of the cut.  It has a pretty small turning radius, not as tight as a zero-radius cut, but it is quite maneuverable in smaller areas.  I have been very pleased overall with the quality of this lawn tractor and it seems to be built very well.  Not a lot of plastic pieces on it, a lot of good, quality heavy metal construction.  That is one thing that drew me to buying it as I have pretty much always been a consumer of Craftsman lawn products.  I believe the Husqvarna to be a superior product that will last as long or longer than any Craftsman that I could have purchased.  It also has a good amount of information and log sheets for maintanance, so if this is followed, it should extend the life of the tractor.

**Husqvarna Lawn Tractor 42 Inch** is not the worst, but not the best mower I have owned. At first I really enjoyed the mower alot, but when the newness was gone I was disappointed in some things. First is the way you change the oil. They make it very differcult to drain the oil, without it going all over the place. Other riding lawnmowers that I have owned were very easy to change the oil and not messy. The oil plug also leaks out oil slowly after the first oil change, so I am constantly adding oil. The deck also does not hold up well and the belts are more differcult to change on this model.

Sturdy tractor, holding up well after 2+ years of heavy use

By

from Greensburg, PA

Comments about Husqvarna 42" Lawn Tractor:

My husband and I purchased this tractor in May 2012. We have 5.5 acres of land, of which we mow about 3 acres on a regular basis from April to early November. Needless to say, this tractor gets a regular workout. Because we live in Pennsylvania, the terrain can be quite hilly. We do have several flat areas, but the lawn primarily has a slope to it. The tractor has not had any trouble cutting cleanly over uneven terrain. It mulches leaves and sticks under a dozen large oak and maple trees without any difficulty. It does not have the tightest turning radius, but it is appropriate for our needs. We use it in the fall to help mulch leaves to cut down on the raking. My husband is the primary user but I have also used it on occasion. It can cut our entire lawn in about a third of the time of a push mower and does a nice job - no ragged edges and it does fine around trees and shrubs. It is not a high-end machine but it is solidly built and performs well after three seasons of heavy use. We would buy it or a similar tractor again.

Really like the tractor mower. Power bagger not so hot.

By

from USA

Comments about Husqvarna 42" Lawn Tractor:

Love the ride and the mow. The fuel guage is almost impossible to read. It should have a colored float in it or something. We bought the power bagger also. Bad engineering on the shoot. It keeps wiggleing apart and shooting clipping through the break, almost as fast as you put it back together.

Durability
Engineering on the power shoot is not good.

Comments about Husqvarna 42" Lawn Tractor:

the price was fair for the 42' model , seems powerfull but has issues with the first cut of tall grass, tends to leave clumps , great on gas but awufull on getting over hills {even got stuck in a shallow ditch on the first day . the belt sounds like it slips when you hit clumps of grass etc

HUSQVARNA IS BY FAR ONE OF THE BETTER BRANDS

By

from Des Moines, IA

Comments about Husqvarna 42" Lawn Tractor:

ITS FUNNY BECAUSE I AM READING ALL THE REVIEWS ABOUT BAD CUSTOMER SERVICE. THEN DO NOT BUY FROM LOWES BUY FROM A LOCAL DEALER. I AM A HUSQVARNA DEALER ALMOST EVERYONE ON HERE IS COMPLAINING ABOUT THE CHEAPER LINE OF TRACTORS. AND YA IM NOT A FAN OF THE 20K46 BUT FOR THE PRICE ITS NOT A BAD TRACTOR BUT YOU HAVE TO MAINTAIN THEM LIKE ANYTHING ELSE. AT LEAST HUSQVARNA BUILDS THERE OWN TRACTORS. O YA AND THE PERSON WHO SAID THEY SOLD THE HUSQVARNA FOR A CRAFTSMAN P.S. HUSQVARNA BUILDS CRAFTSMAN TRACTORS ALONG WITH ARIENS.

The 20HP Husqvarna is a great rider, but maintenance is priority

By

from Bessemer, AL

Comments about Husqvarna 42" Lawn Tractor:

The Husqvarna 20HP riding mower is a very reliable machine. I own 3 acres of land that is mowed at least once a week. This mower uses a 48 inch cutting deck with two blades. It is a very dependable mower. The reason I gave this machine an average rating is that you have to stay on top of maintenance. I have owned my riding mower for 3 years, and now it is using oil alot more than normal. I have had a problem with it cranking, and it is in the shop for a broken rod. The problem was that the oil had gotten low. I would recomend this mower to anyone and I look forward to using mine for many more years

Powerfull

By

from Colonial Beach, VA

Comments about Husqvarna 42" Lawn Tractor:

I recently for the first time got my hands on a Husqvarna riding lawn mower, and it more then did the job.  I myself and a big guy tipping the scales at 400 lbs.  Last week I was tasked with cutting a yard that I had not done before.  I arrived to see that it was about 5 acres of up and down rolling hills and sharp corners.  I was amazed at the power and grace that this machine cornered and went up the hills with myself being so large.  I was able to get the job done in roughly 4 hours with no problems and was running as well as it did by the end as when i backed it off the trailer.  This thing is a must buy it will lessen the time you spend doing the job and for me thats about money!****

Husqvarna makes great riding mowers.

By

from Buford, GA

Comments about Husqvarna 42" Lawn Tractor:

Most husqvarna riding mowers offer a great cut that can be achieved faster than most mowers.  I would highly recomend getting one with the kawasaki engine as experience has taught me they last a lot longer and put out more power than the briggs and straton or kohler engines.  It will cost more but well worth it.  The only real downside to them is they don't handle as well on hills as compared to a John Deere.  They are less stable and you have to go slower and shift your weight to compensate.

Most of them have a four gallon gas tank which is good for 2 cuts on a rather larger yard.  They are more fuel efficient than a lot of riding mowers.  Maintaining the mower is also pretty easy.  It's good to keep the blades sharpened, get it done every cutting season for the best results.  Changing the oil is a little tedious as you must hook up a drain hose instead of just letting it drain straight down into a pan.
