After successfully putting it off for weeks (maybe even months), the good Mrs. Xeno has me committed to completing a total clean up of our garage. It is in fact a "must do" project since we have a contractor who will be redesigning the space for us.
"Must do" or not, this project just doesn't play to my strengths. I'm a pack rat. I save everything. In fact it was only last year that I could finally part with a couple of research papers I did as a college senior. This from a man who recently witnessed the birth of his first grand daughter!
When faced with a project like this I just put away my tools and other equipment and anything that remains is fair game for either a charity or the dump.
In either case, my refuse container of choice is Husky Contractor Clean Up Bags. You've probably seen them. These are very large 42 gallon capacity bags. Made of 3 mil thick black plastic, they actually feel heavy coming out of their box.
Why these bags?
Most importantly, these bags are seriously strong. Sixty pounds of books to be donated? These bags don't even flinch at the thought.
They are flexible enough to accommodate oddly shaped objects and thick enough to resist a tear when some sharp piece of scrap something is digging into its side.
At about $16 for a carton of 32 bags, available at Home Depot, they are ideal for major home cleanup projects. Whether I'm cleaning up the mess from a home construction project or just the accumulation of years of "stuff" this is my indispensable item.
I'd love to stay and blather on about these bags, but the lovely Veronica has that look in her eye that screams "stop writing about it and start doing it!" Guess I'll catch up with you later.
Regards,
Rudi
